Read NR in college when it was a real magazine: "Hell," he wrote, "should be capitalized because it is a real place. (N.b. John Derbeyshire).

Had the opportunity to field a question: "T. S. Eliot said a country does not recover from a civil war. Do you think there is a direct connection between the Civil War and abortion? He said, most people do not remember the civil war. I don't remember what else he said, but that month NR ran an article on the very subject, sometime back in the '80s.

Read Buckley's Atlantic High: first point of order is to determine who are the chiefs and who are the indians.

Loved Firing Line..

God rest his soul.

Yes. Derbyshire has "lost his faith...." Buckley never lost his: I think that is the secret of his greatness.

I had a feeling he would not long survive his wife.... Alas, he followed her all too quickly.

May God ever bless William F. Buckley, and grant rest to his valiant, magnanimous soul. RIP.

It was painful to see the National Review dilute itself into a neocon publication that still claimed WFB’s patrimony.

William F. Buckley’s passing signals an end of an era, and leaves conservative movement in a state of confusion and disintegration.

R.I.P.
