A twelve-month long drop in world temperatures erases global warming
Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on. No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.
Meteorologist Anthony Watts compiled the results of all the sources. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to erase nearly all the global warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year time. For all sources, it's the single fastest temperature change every recorded, either up or down.
Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn't itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.
Let's hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans -- and most of the crops and animals we depend on -- prefer a temperature closer to 70.
Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.
More proof (as all climate fluctations are throughout time) that human activity induced “Global Warming” is scientific fact and that we’re all doomed if we don’t immediately reduce our carbon footprint to zero. Glaciers will advance; the Potomac, Themes and Seine rivers will freeze again for the first time since the 18th and 19th centuries. “Greenland” will become even WHITER.
Two-thirds of that might not be a bad thing.
I wish the McCain campaign would take a look at this data. He could actually GAIN some common sense support from conservatives.
Bush’s Fault!!!
From my own perspective growing up in Texas, the average day climatologically is the same but we don’t have any sharp polar outbreaks like when I was a kid. The ponds used to freeze over once a year at least and we could share in the joy of playing hockey with our northern friends. I don’t think it has been that cold in over twenty years.
Just wait till Ol' Doc Hansen runs this data through his Magical Mystery Global Warming Computer Model and Federal Research Grant Generator, and we will discover that 2007 was really the hottest year on record.
When you have magic on your side, you don't need no stink'n thermometers.
Um, weather; women; Chaos. It all fits.
They’ve done a good job getting the world to believe that ANYTHING that happens supports their proposition of global warming. Seems to me we’ve had wild and irratic weather going back to the time of Rome and Greece, even further. Climatologists tell us the world’s undergone staggering changes for aeons. Now, any kind of “weather” that manifests is unnatural and evidence of global warming.

Doubtful....not with that liberal McCain
Only way to change a liberal is to not vote for him/her
Talk about an Inconvenient Truth....
“Bushs Fault!!!”
Dang it, you beat me to it...........
Someone interview AlGore!
He doesn’t have my vote yet. We’ll see if the Mindless Middle campaigns hard and donates to the cause.
There’s a first for everything.
As a geologist, I am well aware of the cyclicity of the climate and its effect on the formation of this planet. A mere 25 million years ago (a blink of the eye in the Earth’s history), they were no icecaps and the shoreline along the Gulf Coast was about 300 miles further inland. Those poor dinosaurs must have sweated a lot without air conditioning.
When you’re hot you’re hot and when you’re not you’re not.
So do we need to start cutting down trees and burning more fossil fuel in order to prevent a new ice age?
No problem at all for the Moonbat set. I saw a headline the other day that went something like this: "Harshest winter ever blamed on Global Warming."
We need to tell those nasty volcanoes to quit erupting and for the sun to shine a little brighter.
Record 92 deg in Austin yesterday. Below freezing tonight.
With the TransAlaska Natural Gas Pipeline being negotiated and the 50 trillion cubic feet of Prudhoe natural gas sitting at Prudhoe instead of being shipped out, we are aware of the price of natural gas and how we are seeing zero revenue thirty years later.

Watching Algore go down in history as the biggest buffoon to ever live will be one of life's greatest pleasures. We just have to pray it happens before we are all living under the tyranny carbon credits. Once the enviros gain that control, they won't be giving it up, no matter how cold it gets.
