When was the last time a cop in Hawaii was shot with a 50 cal sniper rifle?

No...The National Guard does NOT think it is a threat to Homeland Security. LIBERALS think it is a threat. It is used in less murders than Kennedy recreational activity over history.
I am tired of the demonization of inanimate objects that must be restricted from the 999,999,999 because of the ONE.

I grew up on Oahu, and 20 years ago, just to buy a .22 you needed to go to the police dept and get a permit, complete with photo. It's pretty much "Police State" when it comes to firearms in Hawaii. You can count the firing ranges available to the civilian public on one finger, the range out by Sandy Beach on the east side of the island. Tell you what, on Oahu at least, it would be pointless to bother with a .50 cal, I'm sure the range wouldn't allow it since it's not large enough. I think this particular brouhaha is entirely about the right to own a .50 cal, not the practicality of it. And indeed, I'm sure the Police State will have it's way.

I think we should ban unicorns from horse racing.
While it’s true that I have never seen a unicorn in a horse race, it sure wouldn’t be fair if one entered!

The rifle can fire 10 rounds in 10 seconds, and the bullets can travel for miles, police officials said. The .50 caliber rifle available to civilians are single-shot...hardly capable of firing 10 rounds in 10 seconds. Shooting down airplanes four miles away...lol.

Show me a human who can hit a moving aircraft at 4 miles wiht a 50 and I will buy him the best steak dinner and woman the land has to offer. It just does not happen and the quoted General is an idiot if he thinks it does. During WW2 it took thousands of rounds of 50 cal to bring down a plane flying straight at you within 1,000 yards.

What kind of idiot writes a story like this, referring to the 50 cal rifle “but in most states, a person can buy it over the Internet or from a gun store”. Duh, isn’t that what gun stores do, sell guns! And as for buying over the Internet, you still need to have a licensed FFL dealer do the actual transaction. This reporter is implying that a firearm can be legally obtained without having to report it to the government, what a moron!

When the Marxist’s Dimocrats have the White House and Congress controlled together, January of 09 by the way, they will start passing little laws here and bigger ones there, to go around the 2d Amendment. They will do everything they can to unarm us or make it impossible to even purchase ammo for guns. Like a box of 40 cal shells costs $20.00, would probably be taxed by $100.00 and cost you $120.00 per box. They would tax us out of our minds on our ammo. Just another little law to take away more freedoms.

"... "It does concern us -- shooting down airplanes four miles distances," Hawaii National Guard Gen.Gary Ishikawa said." Oh look, it's the 'Well-Regulated Militia' weighing in on what private citizens' rights ought to be limited to.
Now, if you'll excuse him, General Gary has to catch the next flight to Kosovo.

Either Ishikawa is G*d’s own marksman, as no other mortal man can shoot anywhere like that, or he is another of the Democrap population in Hawaii.
Another possibility is that he has eaten fugu at the wrong restaurant, and washed it down with too much Kool-Ade.
In any case, tie his sleeves tight and bundle him off to the rubber room folks.
