“Is it for all the guests or family members? Is it your sister or your wifes sister? Is she in the wedding?”
....they want ALL guests in tux/evening clothes....it’s my wife’s sister....my wife and I are not in the wedding....these folks are big phoney baloney types....it’s a big night wedding at St Peters (high church) down town....and of course, they’ve never darkened that church or any other church’s door....they worship at the altar of credit card shopping down at Nordstrom’s...they’re so bad in debt that they couldn’t get a wedding loan, so they hit up my mother-in-law to pay for everything....and naturally they’re pulling out all the stops for Laura’s “big day” since it’s on somebody else’s nickel...they tried to get my wife to pay for a “brides maid’s luncheon” at the country club, but I put my foot down on that one....and of course that makes me the bad guy...my wife is going to be executrix of my mother-in-laws will one of these days.....I told her she ought to subtract the wedding expense out of her sister’s cut.
The bride and groom would be much better off if they could get Grandma to pony up for the down payment on a (modest) house and have a small, simple wedding. But, from what you’ve said, that probably wouldn’t occur to them.
I smell a divorce in the air...I wonder who she will hit up to pay for that?
