We aren't at war with Mexico, we are at war in Iraq. Immigration is a minor police matter stoked up by political attentions and partisans angling for possible future votes. Iran is a vital matter of life and death for millions. Immigration isn't, half the economic concerns around it are nonsense, the cultural and law and order ones real enough, but maintenance and police matters. Also, we can deal with it whenever, it lacks urgency, unlike running centrifuges. Still must be attended to, of course, but it is prominent now because Bush freely picked it to fight about - foolishly.
