Yep, they were cut up. Alas.
I wonder how much it would cost to re-open a line to make an updated B-52. It coudn’t cost that much, if you bought them in quantity. It’s old tech, after all. Keep the airframe the same, add modern avionics and engines.
Order a thousand of them. That would be pretty sweet. Once you’ve finnished SEAD operations, Arc Light, Arc Light.
The cost would not make it practical, all the tooling, machines, dies, and I am not sure if Boeing has the room to do this at this time since they are working on other projects.,,i.e. the 787, 747-8i, 777-F, maybe, ( just maybe, a large order from the US Airforce for the 767 tanker ).
“It coudnt cost that much”
Oh ye of little faith in the ability of our military procurement system to increase the cost of something simple......

That’s assuming the Airforce gets a spine and tells Lockheed Martin and Boeing where they can shove the cost plus contracts and actually start holding these contractors responsible for their actions.
Other than that, the Airforce won’t do it because the B-52 isn’t “flashy” enough.
