One morning along about January 1 we were standing in line over at the old Wal-Mart in Seymour Indiana waiting on the New Year's sale.

Lady in front of us was talking about being from "somewhere California". So, we asked her, "where from in California and why are you here". She answered "Los Angeles and I'm here so my kids can grow up and not get shot".

Prett good answer. Several others around us murmured that they, too, had come there from California because, as it turned out, they wanted their kids to grow up.

Cold as heck too.

I was carjacked in my driveway and burglarized twice in California. We lived in Riverside, in a middle class neighborhood. It was just bordered by crap. We fled for our lives when we moved six years ago. People on here gave us crap, saying that we were traitors to California and that we should stay and fight the onslaught. I think the war was lost over 30 years ago. It's just that no one knew it yet.

But, maybe I should move back and risk it, because those caves around here are scary! It's the karst geology. I've heard of people walking along and the ground just swallowing them up. The lakes might look nice, too, until you're near them and you get eaten alive by all the bugs.
