It seems to me that the reason we provide federal financial aid as a society is to ensure that the best and the brightest among us actually end up in the professions that each of us is suited for, which in turn allows us to remain competitive in the global marketplace. ...we don’t want a society where only Paris Hilton can afford to go to law school because a nation led by Paris Hiltons is one that becomes a satellite of China within about five years. So introducing a new, conditional form of financial aid could be a good idea, if the aid was conditioned in a way that helped the American economy by, say, encouraging students to perform better in school, to master the material, or to pursue fields of study that will keep our workforce strong and prevent the trek to Chinese-satellite status. In fact, of all the conditions that one could attach to the receipt of educational dollars, the performance of community service seems one of the most ludicrous and most inane. This is not because community service isn’t a good thing. It’s because the one has nothing to do with the other. It’s like saying that everyone who adopts a puppy or kitten from the pound (do they still have pounds these days?) gets a Social Security check. The whole formula is like something a second grader dreamed up.

Obama is more than just a liberal. He is the most liberal senator in congress.

The greatest “change” we had was from the Carter years to the Reagan years. We were PROUD to be Americans back then. Now the Dems are shoving European Socialism down our throats. That’s NOT what made us great. The only “change” Obama wants is from a United States to Union of Socialist States.
