Hornish IS in the top 35 .. they have the points from the 2 team from last year and Busch will be relying on his past champs provisional as needed. After 5 races both should be well esconsed in the top 35 and no further concerns should follow.
You’re good.
New rules this year.
Top 35 go on 2007 points, provisionals go on 2008 points. Which is why neither Kurt nor DJ needed a champions provsional to get in, Bill Elliot was the next past champion available, which put him in the race.
Here’s Jayski’s blurb about it.........I also did post from Fox Sports up thread basically the same thing.
Friday practice and Qualifying for the Auto Club 500 at Auto Club Speedway has been cancelled due to rain/wet track and the field will be be set by the rules book, top-35 in 2007 owners pts, one 2007 race winner, two past champs, three who in the top 35 in 2008 owners pts, then two by 2008 race attempts [ties broken by 2008 owners pts pos]. So #2-Busch [won a race in 2007], then #44-Jarrett and #21-Elliott in by the past champ, then #83-Vickers, #00-Reutimann and #55-Waltrip who are in the 2008 top 35 of owners pts, then #34-Andretti and #78-Nemechek [1 attempt, 40th and 41st in 2008 owners pts]. Five teams/driver who will not make the race are: #84-Allmendinger #49-Schrader, #10-Carpentier, #27-Skinner and #08-Lamar.
Forty two times 800 = A sound like no other, especially in person. Enjoy. I’ll have the sound on the HD TV turned up.
Are the NASCAR race cars called Sprint cars now?
Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk. Nothing beats sprints for sheer fun. Good sounds too, and you don’t have to wait three hours or more for the final 10 laps that count.
I love Nascar but it does take some time to get to the point that really matters.
Trying to wrestle the TV-knob from the Ms is almost impossible today. Lookin' like it may be off to little TV#2 in the other room for today's racin.
Ain't lookin good for tommmorrow at all on weatherunderground. Bummer.
Truck race up in 60min.
Sure it wasn't just sleepin? Check for a pulse?
Thanks for the ping! Rain still forcast?
Came home to a dead possum under the bathtub.

found a possum ‘sleeping’ on the bottom of my pool one time... it was a big one too.
almost Trucks race time..
Not sure about that GSYE there. The two ladies didn’t seem to have rehearsed that very well.
we may get both truck and nationwide races in today, tomorrow looks really iffy however, monday looks to be a lot better..
Ugh, no kiddin' there. Sunday forecast says 90% chance of rain during daylight.
The TV talkers sound pretty stupid as they continue to pump up tommorrow's broadcast. It'll probably be a replay of last year's race.
At least, we'll get two of 'em done today.
Crank it up boys.
I hope we get 2 done today,, there is a separate big glob of stuff moving towards SoCal a well..
I'll be in and out for the trucks, I think all my play time caught up with me.
Thanks for the info!
Skinner had plugwire problems starting up front, then fell back to last, and has clawd his way back to P5.
Skinner should get the Drive of the Race award, but so far the director and announcers have basically ignored this sterling drive back into the top 5.

"Kyle Busch survived a late-race green-flag pit stop, regained his lead and pulled away to win the San Bernardino County 200 Truck Series race at Auto Club Speedway on Saturday.
Busch set the pace early and often, appearing to have the dominant truck and leading 51 of 100 laps. But just past the halfway point it was Todd Bodine who motored past him down the backstretch.
Bodine set the pace for much of the race's second half as Busch held second. Yet a green-flag pit stop loomed.
A bevy of strategies dotted pit road, as the lead swapped hands nearly every lap while the stops unfolded. But after the orchestrated chaos, it was Busch who emerged out front with a 3.5-second lead.
Bodine closed the gap slightly but settled for second, followed by Johnny Benson, Terry Cook and Ron Hornaday." (NASCAR.com)
