McCain wins Wisconsin per all news outlets. He is giving a great speech now.
“You must have accidentally hit Post before you typed in the rest.”
What would you suggest? Support a liberal to avoid a liberal?
I don’t favor an immediate withdrawal.
The young people didn’t show up in previous elections, but this one is different. They already are showing up to vote in the primaries - by vastly larger numbers than our side is.
I haven't noticed that until this post, but I suppose that it's possible. Certainly the Ron Paul supporters would like to see us out of Iraq & elsewhere. I think most people on both sides of the "McCain Issue" have good reasons for their points of view, but considering what a hot issue it is around here right now, it doesn't seem to take much to get things going.
“Seems clear. I presume you know what the established provisions of Islam are?”
The banning of takfir makes theocracy imposible. Not to mention the constitution upholds freedom of religion anyhow. Taking article 2A out of context in an attempt to paint Iraq as a theocratic dictatorship hostle to the U.S. is pretty weak.
“If he understands the war, what does he intend to do about Saudi Arabia and Iran? Especially when our new Iraqi allies seem awfully friendly to their Iranian neighbor.... “
The anti-war people attempt to paint Iraq as a puppet of Iran. Iran has repeatedly demanded we withdraw. The Iraqis have no interest in that. Not sure about McCain, but what do you think Obama will do about Iran?
Article 2A directly contradicts “freedom of religion”.
“The anti-war people attempt to paint Iraq as a puppet of Iran. Iran has repeatedly demanded we withdraw. The Iraqis have no interest in that. Not sure about McCain, but what do you think Obama will do about Iran?”
Much the same as McCain. Nothing. What about Saudi Arabia?
I don’t follow your logic in how a vote for McCain puts someone like Obama in the white house.
You mean like Romney dropping out?
We're still in the primaries. There's always a weeding-out process. Red state-blue state doesn't really come into play until the general.
I'm seeing this, too, and wondering if the lamestream media isn't scaring some people. Woe is me, all is lost...
And another thing. I live in CALIFORNIA. I could use a little help here!
By Super Tuesday, all conservative candidates had dropped out.
“We’re still in the primaries.”
The primaries are effectively over.
“Red state-blue state doesn’t really come into play until the general.”
When you candidates only has strong support from states who won’t vote for him....
“John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench. Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, returning the abortion question to the individual states. The difficult issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat.”
What he said when he wasn’t running for President:

“And another thing. I live in CALIFORNIA. I could use a little help here!”
The kind of help the McCain will send, you don’t want.
Exactly!
What matters is what he is saying now. Because that is the standard to which he will be expected to hold as President.
John McCain has a pretty decent pro-life record. He earns eggs from NARAL and PP.
You know full well that virtually no one here “wants” Hillary or Obama. Many of us do, however, feel strongly that a McCain nomination signals a point in the liberalization of the GOP that can no longer be condoned, supported, and extended, a point at which we believe it is wiser to accept what we hope will be short-term pain in order to achieve long-term gain.
Continuing your snide remarks against fellow conservatives who feel differently than you on this issue is counter-productive in every way.
I and many others feel strongly that a vote for McCain is the easy way out and almost surely will result in far greater damage to the country over the long term than not voting for him. The GOP has been heading in the wrong direction for almost two decades now, two decades of doing exactly what you propose we do again, vote for candidates who do NOT stand for the conservative government that is needed so desperately in this country.
Despite the fact that the GOP has been the majority party for almost twenty years, the country has grown more liberal by the day. It truly is time for change.
MM (in TX)
The only way we're going to end that is by holding a national primary. Be careful what you wish for..
Catulus, The kind of help (hope!) Obama will send would be even worse. The man worships Caesar Chavez, for crying out loud!
Barak Obama -- candidate of the Seinfeld generation.
Thanks!
