WASHINGTON, (AP) -- State Sen. Tom McClintock is strongly considering running for Congress in the Northern California district now represented by John Doolittle, his political adviser says.
McClintock adviser John Feliz told The Associated Press on Tuesday that an announcement likely would come by the end of the week.
A crowded GOP primary already was emerging in the Republican-friendly 4th Congressional District.

Darling of California conservatives ping!
McClintock Ping List.
Please freepmail me if you want on or off this list
Thanks for the ping, SmithL.
I have always hoped that McClintock would be running for Governor in 2010, so this doesn’t get me real excited.
I wonder if this means the PTB are clearing the decks for Poizner?
BTTT
Only RINOs need apply for the Gubernatorial nomination. Ah-nold’s probably pissed he won’t be able to give his office to Salty Tony Villar. It’s gonna be either Garamendi or... drum roll please (and hide the kids)... Jerry Brown.
BINGO!!! The bi-lateral CONservatives (fiscal & public safety* only) are angling straight for that objective. The tri-lateral movement conservatives (fiscal, law & order & social) are being subjected to CA GOP "Party Cleansing!"
This must be terminated... nipped in the bud!!!
*can be replaced with national security on the national level.
P.S. Isn't that RINO Contra-CONservative Insurance Commissar's name really Steve Poisoner? (that's the way it's pronounced)
Poisoner... perfect!
I also wonder if Steve’s contributions to fight the term-limits initiative wasn’t
predominantly motivated by the need to build a superficial anti-Arnold portfolio.
(and help erase all those years he spent in the Democratic Party)
We must not let Republicans be fooled by this Mr. Poisoner like they were by Mr. Schwartzenfooler!!!
You just want Villaraigosa or Garamendi to win! /FO
Thats my district and we would look forward to voting to Tom for Congress.
I love such battles between genuine conservatives and contra-conservatives!!! Tom surely has other paths open to him without interfering with this magnificent battle...
Maybe he could lobby for the 4 monopolistic Indian Gaming Tribes for a couple of years? There ought to be good money in that while he bides his time, right???
