I have no desire to outlaw abortion and then have the horror of thousands of women dying of illegal abortions.

Bull!

There was never "thousands of women dying of illegal abortions" even before Roe v Wade.

" As for the number of deaths from illegal abortions, in 1960 the total number of all pregnancy-related deaths (from abortions as well as from childbirth and other problems during pregnancy) was 1,579 (according to the Vital Statistics of the United States, Vol. II, Mortality, Part A. 1960-77). But in fact, for 1960, Vital Statistics attributes 289 of those 1,579 deaths to abortion (legal and illegal).

In 1968, Vital Statistics reports 859 total pregnancy-related deaths; 133 of the 859 attributed to abortion.

By 1972, the year before the Supreme Court legalized abortion-on-demand nationwide, there were 24 deaths from legal abortions and 39 from illegal abortions (according to the Centers for Disease Control Abortion Surveillance, Annual Summary, 1978).

Not only have pro-abortionists grossly exaggerated the number of illegal abortions and deaths, they misrepresent what caused the decline in the number of abortion-related deaths. It had nothing to do with legalization of abortion. The number had been dropping steadily long before the first states legalized abortion. The real explanations are such factors as the availability of better antibiotics, such as penicillin, the establishment of intensive care units and better surgical techniques."

Anyone who buys into the "thousands of women dying of illegal abortions" crap put out by the liberal pro-abortionists is not, in my book, pro-life.

If Hillary were his VP choice, that takes away the one hope remaining for Conservatives — that McCain will win but croak on Inauguration Day and leave a Conservative VP to become POTUS.

I’m hoping for the croaking and then a President DeMint, President Santorum, or President Romney.

“Yeppers. We have a winner. McCain was selected as an in your face to the conservative movement, to make them/us vote for a despicable enemy and still lose to the chosen ones. He’s a mean and crazy version of Bob Dole.

A divided party has no shot. So simply select for the GOP a perennial enemy that only the staunchest party people and modddys and libs can support. Party is fractured. No enthusiasm. Game over. And make sure he says as many stupid things as possible for the fence sitters.

Maybe he can join old Bob doing Viagra commercials when it’s over.”

I woke up this morning to hear Hillary heaping praise on McCain on the BBC. Instead of joining Dole, McCain will be teaming up with Bubba for Viagra ads when it’s all over.

John McCain tried to qualify his remark from 2005 that senator Hillary Clinton “would make a good president.”

Welp. That changes MY vote!

One can tell a lot about a person by their friends.

To think I was gonna vote for that lib’rul gasbag.

*rolling eyes*

Might as well switch to McCain. Heh.

In post 197 you wrote: “I’d love to see abortion made illegal, but we have a long way to go to educating people, first, and I have no desire to outlaw abortion and then have the horror of thousands of women dying of illegal abortions.”

The only way to interpret this is that you are OK with babies being killed from now until we educate people. How is that not being OK with millions of babies being killed so that adult women who make the decision don’t die from their decisions? And, how is that a pr-life stand?

Because we have millions of babies being killed NOW while we're educating people. Outlawing abortion--which other posters have rightly shown will not end abortion at all due to home abortion methods--isn't the way to END abortion.

That you can't grasp this shows why, after decades, after Reagan, after Bush, after conservative SCOTUS appointments, we haven't stopped abortion from being acceptable.

Folks like you are more interested in getting on your high horse and deciding who is and who isn't "really" pro-life. I am interested in ending abortion. So yeah, I am pro-life; that someone like you who can't understand why outlawing RvW will PERPETUATE the acceptance of abortion disagrees doesn't bother me one bit.

Most conservatives are resigned to the fact that McCain is going to be the GOP nominee, and are waiting for him to give them a reason to support him. This doesn’t help matters, although it was a few years back that he made this foolish remark.

What is it going to take for you idiots to realize that a vote for McCain is a vote AGAINST everything conservatives stand for?

Idiots?

"Everything" conservatives stand for?

Hmm, like winning the war in Iraq, and standing up to the jihadists in the larger war on terror?

I have a few questions for you.

What do you hope to gain by seeing to it that Marxists Hillary and/or Obama get control of you?

Do you think that voting Americans will hate them sooooo much that we absolutely must have a conservative in 2112? (If so, you better be counting the flood of naturalized illegal aliens, that would dwarf the (admittedly horrible) McCain Kennedy nonsense.)

Do you think that the those in uniform will thank YOU for abandoning them and their sacrifice? (They will not.)

Do you think that there will be a successful third party from all of this? (Note the qualifier, "successful".) Consider that conservative voters comprise 30-40 % of th electorate. Liberals about that as well. A third party will split the non-liberal vote into oblivion, and see to it that the Dems/Marxists had perpetual congressional majorities. Is this what you want?

How about Life v. "choice". Any Supremes appointed by a Hillary or Obama will be uber-feto-Kevorkians compared with what a McCain will appoint. If you think you know better, then it's YOUR conscience that is on the line after the confirmation of Marxist supremes.

Second amendment important to you? It is to me. Hillary is already calling for more "gun control" bills. I suspect most strongly that she plans confiscation, and once she has the Supremes, she won't waste any time.

Now, let's say a Hillary or Obama wins, by a narrow, narrow margin. (Just like the last 2 national elections.) Just who do you think people are going to blame? You, and your myopic buddies who think you are conservatives, but are willing to lose a war, to sacrifice our military, to empower the "choicers", and to give up your guns...just to prove a point that you don't like who the voters chose as the GOP candidate.

You may even be called (and might even refer to yourselves) as "idiots".

Bottom line Sparky?

I’m voting against the Democrats, just as you are.

But I don’t have to vote for John McCain in order to accomplish that.

Go back to 1968 and ponder what is now the prophetic quote of one Governor George C. Wallace, running on the American Independent Party ticket:

“There ain’t a dime’s worth of difference between the Democrat and Republican Parties!”

Now if you’re looking for someone to blame, if it turns out that Hiliarly or Obamanation ends up in the White House, you can start not by assailing conservatives, but place the blame where it will belong:

On what used to be called the Republican Party, now better known as the RINO Party. Conservatives are not obligated to automatically vote for whoever the GOP puts up as it’s nominee, just as we have been steadfast over the years in reminding black voters that they are not obligated to automatically vote for whoever the ‘Rat Party nominates, just because they say the right words, turn the right phrases, and promise the moon and the stars as always to black voters, all in the interest of getting their votes, then putting them back on the plantation and taking them for granted until the next election cycle.

The GOP has taken conservatives for granted for the last time, they are on the cusp of nominating not a conservative, but just another crypto-liberal ‘Rat-lite as their candidate, and I’ll have nothing more to do with them.

I won’t vote Democrat OR Republican for damn sure. I didn’t leave the GOP, the GOP left me.

And to paraphrase Barry Goldwater, “In your heart, you know I’m right.”

I've always considered him whacked in the head after his Vietnamese torture episode but this really CONFIRMS it!!!

America is indeed a great country when u stop & consider it. Just look at the idiots & vermin we've had running for President:
1. John Kerry - A traitor who bold-faced lied to Congress about his comrades in time of war.
2. A lying scumbag lawyer (John Edwards) who served on the board with those exploiting the poor & homeless in Louisiana, yet has the chutzpah to run on a platform saying "he's for the poor" while living in a palatial mansion.
3. The most vile & corrupt woman in America (Hitlery Clinton) whose reign of terror in the previous Clinton Administration encompassed dozens of mysterious deaths, multiple treason's, corruption of the highest degree and yet continued to get a pass by the mainstream media who until recently cringed in utter fear of her. Now she views herself as the rightful heir to the Presidency (especially since she's plotted so long & hard for it) and is using any ploy to get any edge in this election; race card, gender card, opponents drug use, etc.

I'm amazed that there are still so many people stuck in the mentality that it's all about Democrat vs Republican, and that anything someone with an R by his name does is automatically good, because he's one of OURS... when the sad (and frightening) reality is that both parties have been pretty much taken over by globalists, and what really matters now is not the "R" by their name, but if they are a constitutionalist and true patriot, and not a NWO socialist-globalist traitor.

Whew! Run-on sentence, but it needs to be said. The sooner people wake up and realize what is happening, the better.

You are absolutely correct and this insane automatic “R = Good Guy” mentality only betrays the mental illness which leads otherwise logical, reasoning Americans to throw out their common sense and go into bleeting-sheep-mode as they cast their vote for whoever has been foisted upon them as the alleged ‘choice of the people’.

For example, let’s say that JohnnyMac had a mental meltdown back in December and was dragged away muttering, would the compromisers and fools supporting him automatically transfer their loyalties to some alternate Party-selected RINO like Chuck Hagel? Arlen Specter? Olympia SnoweJob? Lindsey Limpwrist-Graham? John ‘Mr Elizabeth Taylor’ Warner?

Those clowns are no different than McCain, the words and rhetoric may differ, they may ‘appear’ to have policy differences one way or the other, but once placed under the political microscope, they’re all infected with the same liberal RINO-virus and are unworthy of ANY self-respecting conservative’s vote.
