Don't know anything about Pawlenty, maybe he's a good choice.
I was really, really hoping for John Boehner, however.

The only problem with Steele is, while he is one Black Conservative who could win the support of Blacks and Whites (and others alike), he probably would be attacked by liberals for only having the experience of being Maryland GOP Chairman and being Maryland Lt. Governor (even through it is definitely more experience than Obama has, especially some executive experience).
Hutchison, while she supports legalized abortions, would probably be more creditable as a VP candidate, due to her extensive political experience (which is certainly more than Hillary Clinton’s).

Ye Gods!! The tan plastic Charlie Crist who was in on the fix in Florida??
He might as well add pretty Lindsey Graham to the list to finish it! They've been posing together in most of the recent pictures I've seen.

Didn’t Steele just lose a big Senate race? Not someone who has been able to win the support of Blacks.

Jindal would be a great candidate, when he gains more experience as Louisiana’s Governor.
That said, he is barely old enough to be President. But I think he certainly has great potential in the future.

The VP choice of McCain will have to accept the fact that their political career will probably be toast aqfter the election

Bobby Jindal?
Is he old enough (i.e., 35 by Jan 20 2009) yet?

Not enough experience yet. Give him a few years of governance under his belt and he could be a national player for the Republicans.

Didn’t Kasich used to run with the same crowd as Gary Condit?
