McCain? No Way!
by Sen. HL "Bill" Richardson (ret.)
Chairman of the Board, GOA

Americans are being told by the mainstream media that conservatives have no other choice than to back the hypocrite from Arizona. All that is required is to pretend he is "really" a conservative. "So, crawl under the big Republican tent and vote for McCain," we are told. "Besides, what other choice do you have?"

We have plenty of choices, none of which calls for casting our vote for the lesser of two presidential evils.

First, the Republican race isn't over. Huckabee is still around and as Kansas and Louisiana should point out, the Romney vote flocked to Huckabee. Not that they loved Huckabee, but that they have zero trust in the promises of McCain. Even if Huckabee loses, what makes anyone think conservatives will vote for McCain?

Don't you liberals get it? The republican conservative believes McCain would be a vindictive president. He's proven his dislike for conservatives and would gut us at every opportunity.

Why do I say that? Because of three decades of experience as a Republican California Senator and a fifty year activist in the conservative movement. I have first hand, in-their-face experience with elitist RINO's (Republican in Name Only) office holders. They are biblically ignorant, power hungry, status seeking egotists who have no difficulty aiding their liberal Democrat colleagues whenever their arms are politely twisted. The one thing they have in common with liberal Democrats is their dislike of all conservatives, especially those who are Bible-believing. McCain, as president, would stifle the voices of elected Republican leaders and try to legislate the conservative movement out of existence.

There is no reason why any conservative should be depressed, especially if they look at past history. I clearly remember the political climate in 1964. We newly-awakened conservatives had a real friend running for the Republican nomination. Barry Goldwater defeated a liberal Republican in the primaries, but in the general election, the mainstream media slaughtered him. In 1964 it was easy to do; we had no effective political action committees, no conservative organizations, few pro-life activists, little religious participation, no talk radio, a handful of articulate conservative legislators, no fax machines and zero Internet. After the 1964 November election, all looked hopeless. Not a bright star on the horizon....But!

In 1966, we conservatives elected an actor as Governor of California. I was elected to the State Senate. The thespian and I were greener than grass but we were both quick to learn. Ron Reagan became a national star, a conservative leader in the nation’s most popular state. He couldn't be ignored.

I founded Gun Owners of America and Gun Owners of California. We became the second largest pro-Second Amendment organization in America with membership in the hundreds of thousands. We concentrated our efforts on electing pro-gunners to the legislature and stopping anti-gun legislation. We grew rapidly and were quite successful. During liberal Jerry Brown's eight years as governor, not a single anti-gun bill was signed into law. The reason was simple -- although the liberal Democrats controlled both houses of the legislature, no anti-gun legislation passed from either house to find its way to the Governor’s desk.

The entire gun movement is close to accomplishing that feat on a national level. As long as the gun community hangs together, it will make little difference on gun issues who is sitting in the White House. The same could be true of other major conservative organizations as long as they stay in the fight. We are much better off than in 1964 and much better organized.

The other good news is that some of the weak-sister Republicans are leaving office -- not willing to scrap it out with the liberal Democrats. Hooray, happy to see you go! Call Gun Owners if you need a ride out of town. We have an opportunity to replace them with tough, no nonsense conservatives. Already, some very fine men are seeking these vacancies.

We at Gun Owners intend to be very engaged in Congressional and US Senate races.

I personally will not cast a vote for the presidency -- that is, if McCain is the Republican nominee. Under no circumstances will I vote for either of the Democrats. This will be the first time in fifty years that I have made this choice. I hope it will be the last.

CLINTON NO WAY MCCAUN 2008!
ABC 20/20 Corroborates Peter Paul Against Hillary ClintonSeven years ago Peter Paul began whistleblowing to the government and alerting the media of numerous illegalities committed by Hillary and Bill Clinton in order to win Hillary’s first election to public office. The multi-million dollar donor to Hillary’s Senate campaign that caused Hillary’s finance director to be indicted and tried in May, 2005, for hiding his contributions, and whose complaint to the FEC resulted in a finding that Hillary’s campaign broke the law resulting in the only FEC fine imposed against Hillary’s campaign, will begin the discovery process leading to a trial in Los Angeles later this year of the Clintons and others for destroying Paul’s public company.

The Case Management Conference hearing in Paul v Clinton et al on February 21, in Los Angeles Superior Court will finally set a trial date in the long delayed civil fraud case and it will set a schedule for discovery that will include the sworn depositions of the entire Clinton family and the Clinton hierarchy of the Democratic Party.

While Hillary Clinton has NEVER personally denied Paul’s numerous allegations of illegalities directed by Hillary, her campaign and lawyers have regularly labeled Paul a liar. A review of all statements made by Paul and by Hillary’s paid stooges shows just the opposite. In fact, Paul’s allegations that his $1.2 million in donations were hidden by Hillary’s campaign have been corroborated by the Justice Department, FBI and FEC General Counsel- while the lying has been done by the Clinton appointed Judge in the Rosen trial, Hillary’s lawyer David Kendall who maintained Hillary’s campaign filed accurate reports until the campaign admitted hiding more than $720,000, and her lawyer Lyn Utrecht in false statements made to the FEC General Counsel denying Paul’s contribution of $1. The complete record corroborating who the real liars are can be found at the Hillary Clinton Accountability Project site.

Also, do a little more research and some of the members of the Council on Foreign Relations may stun you ..and there are some very good republicans that are members.

because he got the necessary votes.

Independents and cross-over liberals pushed McCain to the top.

All thanks to the Stupid Party that doesn't believe in closed primaries.

This year, the sit out and pout crowd is for Obama.

Oh yeah? Look, my friend, your boy's own campaign manager said he wouldn't...what was it?...say anything bad against Yobama. Something like that. Kindly rethink your "for Obama" comments.

AND, don't forget, your boy's campaign also said that "very conservatives" are "Statistically Insignificant." If conservatives are so "statistically insignificant," then, you should have a very comfortable win in November with the all the support from the legions of moderates who will vote for your guy. Hope you can live with your disappointment when McQueeg sells out (again).

In my left hand I hold a steamy pile of shit. In my right hand, I hold a steamy pile of shit. According to the GOP, one steamy pile is better than the other. Or, if you would rather, less disgusting than the other.

You must be one of the RINO establishment’s hacks. Think you can bully conservatives into throwing core principles out the window? No sale. The Battered Wife syndrome is playing its final act. You lost.

The only difference between John McCain and Barak Obama is the level of rhetoric on the War in Iraq. The Democrats hold a majority both houses of Congress, and yet they have failed to pull the plug. Neither will they do so if BHO becomes POTUS. Obama was recently questioned about his commitment to pull troops out of Iraq, and he equivocated on the issue. So your primary reason for supporting McCain is a straw dog.

A Democrat POTUS will cause the conservative base to galvanize, and force the GOP to either return to its core values, or cease to exist as a viable party. The late US Representative Tip O’Neill (D-MA)shrewdly and correctly observed: “All politics is local.” The Conservative base will either break the RINO choke-hold on the GOP and get authentic conservatives into local county and state offices, or else the GOP will become Persona non Grata. Basically, we conservatives need to start from scratch. First item on the agenda is to ditch the two-faced unprincipled GOP leadership that perpetuates the status quo of fielding COWARDS: Conservative Only When Another RINO Desires Support

McCain, however, will destroy the conservative base from within. He will create so much chaos that nothing will get accomplished, accept moving the GOP further left, both at the national and state levels of organization.

You do know members of the CFR include/included: Condi Rice, President Eisenhower; Dick Cheney; President HW Bush; President Reagan, Newt Gingrich ...are they socialists?
there are some very leftwing members too..no doubt about it..but dont think because someone is a member they should have some automatic “Im a socialist” stamped on their forehead.
McCain, Thompson, Rudy and Romney were or are up for membership.
also, the legislation against the DC gun ban was proposed by McCain...check it out.
Sorry if you think Obama and Hillary would support it.

I see you have two rubber stamps: one for conservatives who oppose RINOs, and one for RINOs. Got your number, chief. You’re toast.

So, let me get your point clear.

Death by lethal injection (McCain)

or...

Death by decapitation (Obama)

That about sums it up.

So I guess you are “pro-choice”?

Jason, you are making too much sense. Do you think the talking head groupies that base their every thought on what some news hack espouses will ever look up the facts? they have the “dog ate my homework” syndrome.
The difference between McCain and Obama is as clear as night and day. If the war on terror isnt enough to convince them and they think Obama will keep us safe for 4 yrs...they will be in for one big surprise at the expense of our children and grandchildren.
There wont be a conservative base left to clean up

Despite the fact that there may be a non-Huckster Libertarian, Constitutional, or Independent candidate coming this summer, at the end of the day, the result of that candidacy will be the election of either Mrs. Clinton or Obama. If that is the way you want it, I certainly respect your choice.

The desire is that neither candidate have a mandate. Clinton did not have a mandate in 1992; how much did he manage to get done even with a Democrat House and Senate? Voting third party may give Democrats a win, but it will never give them a mandate.

Open primaries was one of the major missions of McCain’s Reform Institute.

He’s been working the system to his favor for years.

You either help McCain or Obama. Deny it all you want. It’s a fact. It’s either/or. One or the other.

Suppose one who's going to spend $500 this elections decides that it's best to send $0 of it to McCain and $500 to help conservatives in Congress. Would you consider such a refusal to "help McCain" as "helping Obama", or would you consider it a wise use of resources?

“McCain has also managed to be a better choice than the DEMs. It’s a no brainer.”

Yes, for those with no brains... You just defined yourself nicely. That’s the first accurate remark you have posted on this thread.
