Gingrich had it right in 2001, the State Dept. needed to be cleaned top to bottom and made to support rather than impede the President's policies. Of course they may be doing that in this case, the Justice Dept. answers to the President, not State, so if Justice intervenes, the responsibility is GWB's.

Just how they can overturn this law puzzles me, particularly without negating judgements against regeimes like Libya. The President is just that, President, not the Supreme Court. If GWB didn't like the bill, he should have perusaded his dad not to sign it back in the day. This and several other relevant pieces of legislation date to 1988 to 1990.

I've never heard that, but it does sound like a better idea than what we presently have.

I really, really want to see John Bolton made head of State if McNasty wins.
