Mike Huckabee is the choice of conservatives.
On fiscal conservatism, he believes wholeheartedly in the reduction of cost to the taxpayer, especially entitlements. In Arkansas as governor, he was able to reduce welfare rolls by 50% and he held the line on taxes, leaving them the same as when he took office. He successfully fought to increase deductions and lower taxes such as capital gains. He also signed the Americans for Tax Reform's pledge to not raise taxes.
Huckabee understands that money spent on entitlements is almost three times the amount of spending on the military. Thomas Jefferson said, "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not." By working to reduce those who are dependent on entitlements, we strengthen our economy and our nation.
On conservative foreign policy, Huckabee vows to finish the war in Iraq, leaving when democracy has been established. He is fervent about removing our dependency on foreign oil by increasing our production at home for the short term and investing in renewable energy for the long term. He also is committed to securing the borders and ending the cycle of illegal immigration, which has become such a huge problem for the United States today.
Huckabee is the only candidate I completely trust to support our Second Amendment rights, as he has a longstanding track record as a sportsman and conservationist. For hunters and shooters of all sports, and those who believe they have the right to own a firearm, Huckabee is the only choice.
On moral conservatism, he is the only candidate who is firmly and unequivocally pro-life. He also wants marriage defined as a union between a man and a woman, and he successfully implemented a law stating that in Arkansas.
For members of the working class who are tired of having a large portion of their paycheck go to support those who will not work or are here illegally, to sportsmen who are tired of losing their rights, to Christians who are tired of seeing their values and beliefs represented as something to be shunned and to those who truly believe in democracy, there is an action you can take.
You can vote for Mike Huckabee.

“Other states have more aggressive and automatic policies for commuting prison sentences. In Arkansas, it depends much more on the governor’s office.”
So, the New Evangelicals now supports being soft on crime as well as illegals, and more govt spending and tax increases...and you belong to what Party again?
Q: What's worse than jumping to conclusions?
A: Consistently (and predictably) jumping to conclusions, when it is an opportunity to defame someone you have some kind of itch to deride, for some reason.
Mike Huckabee is the strongest presidential candidate against illegal aliens and tax increases. Also, as the article explains, he has the strongest track record in reducing entitlement growth (and hopefully reversing it).

Laughably misapplied labeling.
who said that President Bush had an arrogant, bunker-type mentality foreign policy
He hunkered in the bunker way too long with the Rumsfeldian/neo-con treatment of Iraq. But then again, nearly everyone who has written much has some line that can be used against him.
Glad to see some 2nd Amendment supporters in FR. It gets a little like crickets in the night, sometimes.
MIKE HUCKABEE ON IMMIGRATION (despite the extreme spin made of his lesser developed past)
Securing our borders must be our top priority and
has reached the level of a national emergency.
The Governor supports the $3 billion the Senate
has voted for border security. This money will
train and deploy 23,000 more agents, add four
drone planes, build 700 miles of fence and 300
miles of vehicle barriers, and put up 105 radar and
camera towers. This money will turn catch and
release into catch and detain of those entering
illegally, and crack down on those who overstay
their visas.
In this age of terror, immigration is not only an
economic issue, but also a national security issue.
Those caught trying to enter illegally must be detained,
processed, and deported.
The Governor opposes and will never allow amnesty.
He opposed the amnesty President Bush
and Senator McCain tried to ram through Congress
this summer, and opposed the misnamed
DREAM Act, which would have put us on the slippery
slope to amnesty for all.
The Governor opposes and will not tolerate
sanctuaries for illegals. The federal government
must crack down on rogue cities that willfully undermine
our economy and national security.
The Governor opposes giving drivers licenses to
illegals and supports legislation to prevent states
from doing so.
The Governor will stop punishing cities which try
to enforce our laws and protect the economic
well-being, physical safety, and quality of life of
their citizens.
The Governor opposes and will not tolerate employers
who hire illegals. They must be punished
with fines and penalties so large that they will see
it is not worth the risk.
The Governor opposes the economic integration
of North America that would create open
borders among the United States, Canada, and
Mexico. He will never yield one iota or one inch
of our sovereignty.
The Governor will take our country back for
those who belong here. No open borders, no amnesty,
no sanctuary, no false Social Security numbers,
no drivers licenses for illegals.

I will never ttust a person who says that “his Jesus Christ is a different one than another church is following”.
I don’t think Huckabee is very smart, and I don’t think he knows how to deal on a world stage.
I already survived one President from Arkansas- I never want to experience another one, thank you.
no...you don’t like Huckabees record much do you lol
I find Huck an embarrassment to the party. I’m looking for a candidate who can face cold, hard facts. Not one who, when confronted with such facts, says “I believe in miracles.””
I want a President who will tell the truth about his Baptist religion that hates Mormons waaay down deep,.

He’s toast, is not a real conservative and is a nasty, untruthful candidate. He cannot win and should retire now!
More campaign “promises”...here’s the record on fiscal matters:
Huckster was and is a tax-and-spend-aholic:
According to the Democrat-Gazette, the average Arkansans tax burden grew from $1,969 in the fiscal year that ended June 30, 1997, to $2,902 in the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2005, including local taxes, a whopping tax increase of 47% under Huckabees tenure. Tax legislation passed while Huckabee was governor totaled a net tax increase of $505 million, a figure adjusted for inflation and economic growth, according to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.
In February of 2004, Huckabee joined with two other Democratic governors in urging Congress to reject a bill that would make the Internet access tax moratorium permanent and embrace a temporary two-year extension of the ban instead.
Every two years, the Cato Institute grades the 50 governors on fiscal stewardship. Heres last years assessment of Tax Hike Mike [emphasis added]:
Thanks to a final term grade of F, Huckabee earns an overall grade of D for his entire governorship. Like many Republicans, his grades dropped the longer he stayed in office. In his first few years, he fought hard for a sweeping $70 million tax cut package that was the first broad-based tax cut in the state in more than 20 years. He even signed a bill to cut the states 6 percent capital gains taxa significant pro-growth accomplishment. But nine days after being reelected in 2002, he proposed a sales tax increase to cover a budget deficit caused partly by large spending increases that he proposed and approved, including an expansion in Medicare eligibility that Huckabee made a centerpiece of his 1997 agenda. He agreed to a 3 percent income tax surcharge and a 25-cent cigarette tax increase. In response to a court order to increase spending on education, Huckabee proposed another sales tax increase.

Just because Huck talks a good talk doesnt make this tax-and-spender a real conservative. Huckabees record is one of a tax-and-spend liberal.
One of the governors biggest weaknesses is his record in Arkansas. While Huckabee did cut taxes during the early years of his tenure, the fact remains that he had a net tax increase under his watch, and the increase in Government size is terrifying. 21 tax increases went into effect, increasing tax revenue by almost $890 million under Governor Huckabee. These increases include the income tax, the sales tax, a cigarette tax, and a gas tax. Not only did he raise taxes, spending more than doubled under Huckabee. During Huckabees 10 years as governor, state spending more than doubled, from $6.6 billion to $16.1 billion in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006. There was an increase in state spending of over 65% during his tenure, and the size of the government increased by 20%. According to the Americans for Tax Reform, the states general obligation debt went up by almost one billion dollars. Arkansas state tax burden was at 9.8% when Bill Clinton left office in 1992. Under Huckabee, it was at 11.1%, reaching the rank of one of the top fifteen state tax burdens.
Huck is simply NOT a fiscal conservative at all. His record on taxes is abysmal.
http://taxhikemike.org/
Good. Then, support Mike Huckabee.
False and slanderous. The "tax burden" did not increase that much. Revenues increased, while taxes increased only by a very small margin, in this time of unfunded federal mandates, federal shifting of welfare burdens, the need for Arkansas road refurbishment, and educational reform -- with a heavy Democrat legislature. (And in this time, Arkansas educational levels moved from 49th, to 8th.)
Who's machine are you copying your stuff from, rbm?
Club for Growth’s 527 attack group was very largely funded by Romney backers.
He cut income taxes, marginalized tax rates, eliminated the marriage penalty and the death penalty.
Then, confronting the needs mentioned in the previous post, he was force by the Arkansas Constitution to balance the budget and cooperated with the legislature to raise taxes in the periphery (which is what the attack-video of Huckabee's speech saying various kinds of taxes would be "fine," is from).
Arkansas was left with an approximate $800M surplus, due to the tremendous economic growth in the state under Huckabee. The departing governor called for that surplus to allow for eliminating sales taxes on food.
Excellent job of managing a very difficult state, applying fiscal conservatism and fulfilling his constitutional duties to the People of Arkansas.
