The shooter who killed five students at Northern Illinois University on Thursday was a lauded sociology student who earned the Dean's Award in 2006, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Police identified the gunman as Stephen Kazmierczak, 27. He transferred last year to the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana.

"He had stopped taking medication and become somewhat erratic in the last couple of weeks," NIU Campus Police Chief Donald Grady said.

Kazmierczak had a shotgun and three handguns during the attack, police said Friday.

...

The gunman, a former vice president of NIU's Academic Criminal Justice Association, wrote about social justice on an Internet site, the paper said.

...

In a paper he helped write two years ago, he described his interests as social justice, corrections, political violence and peace, the Sun-Times said.

TED BUNDY

Nice guy. Good looking. Great student with a promising career ahead of him. Spent many late night hours on a suicide crises lines helping others. MASS KILLER.

I could go on and on with other notorious killers.

The media so much wants these killers to fit a profile that works in their interest. And more often than not they do not.

I got a little brother (half). He lives in Madison and was raised a yankee.
I live in Houston and was raised in Texas.
This am when he got started on me about how guns should be outlawed,
I told him that if someone else had a gun , they could have shot back,
and saved lives.
Needless to say, he hung up on me.
Liberals will never learn!
Oh ya Obama is his GOD!

““In other words, perscription drugs may kill more children in the longrun than blaming the ownership of guns.”

I agree with YOU!” Unfortunately, none of the front runners for the Nomination for POTUS from the Democratic or Republican side agree with you.

The US SENATE and HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES are filled with scoundrels as well. What to do?

We don’t know yet what type of med it was, or what he was taking it for. Maybe it was lithium for bi-polar, or something else, not an SSRI for standard depression.

A BTT. Another part of that conversation included his grimly shaking his head and stating that if he had to work in a place where weapons were permitted he'd just have to look for another job. My reply was to ask him how he thought I felt having to work in a disarmed zone every day? It didn't register.

I also asked him if he felt fear when he ran into me in town. I could be armed, dontcha know (in truth, I often am). Didn't register. I asked him how uncomfortable he felt in a grocery store where anyone around might be armed? Didn't register. I also asked him how many people have been pepper-sprayed on campus? Lots of folks carry that. Didn't register. His reply was "well, that stuff can't kill you," which is not only irrelevant but not technically true. The guy is beyond hope. And he votes.

No a TRUE Liberal, on or off their meds. The whole Liberal cred is VIOLENCE, no matter how much they yammer about “peace.” The most violent people I have ever met in my life were the anti-Vietnam peaceniks. Trust me, they would LOVE to loll you and me. They regard REPUBLICANS as the enemy, not the terrorists. They were secretly thrilled when we were hit in 9/11. They are for gun control, not for our safety, but to KILL us, since we would be unarmed. That’s why the Founders put in the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. For crazies like THIS.

That idiot COULD be killed by a handgun-carrying criminal. And, he wouldn’t know why. Call it, CLUELESS.

Yeah .... they’re VIOLENT when YOU don’t AGREE with them.
Then “peace” and “tolerance” and “diversity” go out the window. Liberals are like little Nazi’s.

They are violent when you DO agree with them. They turn on each other. Look at the Dem Primary. A perfect example. I fear for Obama’s life. They could make it look like some racist did it. The LW WOMEN are just as violent as the men, maybe even more.

ANY of these meds are BAD NEWS.

They play with the chemicals in your brain. Many are UNTESTED. What these folks really need - is NOT meds to bandage the problem. They need patience and people who care about them and get them to talk about what their real problems are. They have SOUL ISSUES and no amount of chemicals will make them better.

I do find it normal to have a bad day. Feel down or disappointed ... that’s when folks listen to you and lift you UP. Drugs will not resolve the root problem. It’s the lazy and easy way out - drug the person and send them on their way - it doesn’t work - the person is still troubled.

You’re absolutely RIGHT.

What’s scary is we have atleast one generation of LITTLE kids on this junk. Moms love it. They don’t have to discipline their kids. ALL kids act out. That’s where a loving parent comes in and corrects them - not pop a pill in their mouth.

Friends of ours HORRIFIED us. Their daughter was “depressed”. They put her on PROZAC at age 16. The doctors told her they didn’t know how the drug would affect a developing brain but she must be put on it AFTER they gave her SHOCK TREATMENTS or she’d kill herself.

They totally freaked the parents out. They scared them into SHOCK TREATMENT and PROZAC. How I wish they’d called us - they were embarrassed. The daughter is now an “art major” in college, trying to “find herself”. Rolling my eyes ... . She’s a very screwed up girl.

We really have to start MAKING THEM HEAR US.

We MADE them hear us on ILLEGAL immigration - shamnesty. We have to be just as tenacious with other issues or VOTE THEM OUT. The problem is people need to SEEK OUT the information and not rely on the media. They have to be INVLVED and know what these scoundrels are REALLY up to in DC.

Just so you know, Dr. Breggin (think that is the correct way to spell his name) has alot of excellent books out lambasting the “medicate first, ask questions later” attitude taking over the field of psychiatry.
I had a teacher tell me my son needed to be placed on ritalin immediately. I handed her two busimess cards, both from doctors of psychology who had dealt with him, and said that they saw no reason to put him on meds. That shut her up.
Schools love to have kids on medication in their schools. Schools get more money for the district if they have more “disabled” kids in their school, and any child on meds is considered disabled for purposes of federal and state funding. It’s easier for the teachers if the kids are stoned out of their minds and it’s more profitable for the school as well.

When I get into these discussions with the lefties, generally they run out of reasonable remarks and end up saying “Well if you have to carry a GUN to ‘feel’ safe, then you must be afraid of everything.” At that point I always come back with “Let me ask you a question. When you get into your car to drive to the store, do you put on your seat belt?” I’ve never heard a single leftie continue the conversation from there. I guess they can’t wrap their heads around the concept of a gun as a safety device. Either that or they can’t argue against it.

Another interesting ploy I’ve seen somewhere is to substitute “self-defense” for “concealed weapon” when discussing concealed carry by law-abiding citizens. So the radio conversation by a couple of local talk show hosts yesterday would have sounded like this:

1. “So if the teacher or one of the students had been carrying self-defense at the time, they could have taken this guy out and saved some lives.”

2. “That’s true, but I’m not in favor of allowing teachers and students to have self-defense in the classroom. There must be another way.”

LOL

Yeah, then parents and schools might just have to start dealing with their own role (lack or reason and discipline) in why people act out rather than just give them a “happy pill”.

You’re exactly right!

It’s not just the ILLEGAL drugs you have to stay off of but also the LEGAL mind altering drugs. It’s a crime. These kids need HELP - not drugs. They need someone to help them sort out problems - these drugs do not do that and the problems fester and get worse till the kid explodes. Expect MORE of this unless this pill popping stops.

Look,
I work around some of the sickest of the sick...

ask me if I know Jesus? He was admitted yesterday and is sitting next to the incognito CIA agent and glaring at person with a space alien in their brain.

I really, REALLY believe in the power of good meds and how they can take a person from an internal hell and actually give them peace.

I had a neighbor like that. She was a SAH mom with a lot of debt, 2 kids approaching college age, and a husband who’d lost his job a few months before thru no fault of his own and who was having difficulty finding another one. She was “depressed” and went to a doctor, who prescribed Wellbutrin.

A few months later, she went off the Wellbutrin after deciding there was a REASON she was depressed - the family had no money and she felt helpless. Subsequently, she found a job that would at least pay the necessities until her husband found another job, which he did after a year or so.

The lesson ? Depression can *gasp* actually have specific causes other than a “chemical imbalance” !

EXACTLY!

Any normal person would be depressed and frustrated in that situation. These things happen. That’s were people who CARE, not a pill, step in and help. In our narcissistic society it’s easier to shove a pill at someone than to care about them. It’s sad.

If they can’t PROVE this “chemical imbalance” and they can’t because it’s SUBJECTIVE and they make $$$$$ off prescribing drugs - who wants to really HEAR and HELP a human being when there’s a pill you can give them and make MORE $$$$$ off them when they get worse. The other night we were playing Scrabble. After we wre done we spread letters out to see what words we could make with out letter limitations. My daughter out together the word, phychotherapist but she layed it out as "phycho the rapist". I thought that was amusing. You really don't have to be a therapist to LISTEN and HELP a person out. Most of it is common sense.
