Not sure about that, but my Great-grandfather fought under Patton's grand-father, a Confederate General in the Civil War. I knew he was a colonel under Jackson; what unit did he command as general?

My mistake. He was a colonel, not a general. My great-grandfather was trying to get home from the battlefield in western Virginiain 1862 to see his mother and was given a pass by Patton. See document below from the Nat'l Archives signed by Patton's aide:
