The GOP and President Bush expected (yes,they passed the buck—McCain was and is THAT scary!) the SCOTUS to scuttle M/F.They didn’t and all were surprised.
Besides,Bush was never a true conservative but he was still better than Gore,Kerry or McCain.
And he never told conservatives to go blank themselves!
What would you call signing McCain Feingold and trying to force Amnesty on the country? I'd say that actions speak just as loudly as words.
Again can anyone show me how McCain would be any worse than Bush has been?
