Breaking News: McClintock Backers to Release Poll Showing He Would Dominate GOP Primary for 4th CD
Red County Blog ^ | Feb 13 2008 | Jeff Flint

A reliable source informs me that backers of the growing movement to draft Tom McClintock into the 4th CD GOP primary have conducted a poll showing that Tom would dominate the primary field.

I am told the poll showed a three way primary of McClintock, Ose, and Oller would fall as follows:

McClintock - 44 Ose - 11 Oller - 6

As most insiders know, while Tom represents Ventura County, he maintains a residence here in Northern California and his family spends quite a bit of time here. Furthermore, because of his statewide campaigns and leadership on a number of issues, McClintock has true, statewide name ID. I would venture that Tom McClintock would poll well in a GOP primary in virtually every District in the state.

Clearly, this poll is intended by McClintock backers to entice him into the race. My source says that the folks who did the poll conducted it without Tom's knowledge. That may or may not be the case. It's either a well-orchestrated move, or a genuine attempt to "Draft" him into the race, but there is no doubt he would be a formidable, perhaps field-clearing candidate, if he indeed jumped in.

The release of this poll is supposedly imminent, so we will know more soon.

I support Tom but I also support term limits.

Unfortunately, its folks like the senator that take the citizen out of the concept of the citizen legislator and give rise to the ugly rumor of "the political class".

"Hopefully, Tom will run his campaign better than he did the Recall where he was a disaster."

Tom wasn't a disaster, SwartzenKennedy spent the national debt campaigning against him.

"Tom, go get a real job."

Ed, go become a real freeper.

Who would you propose to send to congress instead?

Ed, please! There is no reason that Tom McClintock should not run for congress. We need him there.

Reason #1. We need Tom right here in CA!!!

Reason #2. Rico Oller will step aside for no one!!!

Reason #3. The 4th Distict needs a representative intimately knowledgeable of the concerns vital to the 4th district constituitants!!!

Reason #4. Tom McClintock is from Ventura County, Not Modoc County!!!

Reason #5. The people of the 4th District actually resent carpetbaggers!!! (Ose is even too much of one!)

Reason #6. If Tom can't resist getting involved with setting up a near monopoly with four southern CA tribes for Indian Gaming... I think he would have just as hard a time as Doolittle had being too friendly with Washington's influential and moneyed lobbyists.
