If Obama is the candidate, all of the elderly Republicans who voted for McCain because “it’s his turn” will probably wind up wishing they had gone for Romney instead.
If they’re still coherent, anyway.
We had a great candidate in Romney, but I guess he was a gift the party just didn’t deserve.

As I think Romney put it well, paraphrasing, if the only choice is between a Democrat and a Democrat (with an R after his name), most people will vote for the Democrat.
