Republicans: George Bush insists John McCain is a true conservative. James Dobson says he's not. Meanwhile, Newsweek predicts "there will be blood" in the GOP. We predict a Republican president. There has to be.
President Bush, speaking on "Fox News Sunday," responded "absolutely" to host Chris Wallace's question of whether John McCain was a "true conservative." McCain is "very strong on national defense," is "tough fiscally," "believes the tax cuts ought to be permanent" and is "pro-life," Bush noted.
For Obama and Hillary, none of the above apply.
Bush did say, "I think that if John is the nominee, he has got some convincing to do to convince people that he is a solid conservative." Indeed he does, as evidenced by Mike Huckabee's win in the Nebraska caucuses over the weekend.
McCain has done well in primaries where independents could vote for him. In caucuses dominated by party activists, he's done poorly. The caucuses of Maine, Minnesota, Alaska, Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada and Wyoming were all won by Romney. One might dub McCain the "rebel without a caucus."
Ann Coulter may vote for Hillary Clinton, but we will not. The time for Coulters and the true believers to have rallied behind Mitt Romney was before Super Tuesday. It is by waiting for the next Reagan that they've risked sticking us with the next Clinton.

Now that's brilliant strategy...brilliant. And it could easily be implemented at the convention under threat of mutiny (to keep a sacred conservative 'silent majority'). Yep, Brilliant. I second the motion.
You say, “If there were enough anti-McCain Republicans to make a difference, McCain wouldnt be the candidate.”
Unfortunately, you are wrong on this. Republicans don’t even have to be anti-McCain to make a difference in the General Election. If there are not enough ENTHUSIASTIC McCain supporters for a huge turn-out, the Hussein Obama voters, who are very enthusiastic, will overwhelm whatever lukewarm support McCain has.
So now, tell me how belittling the conservatives who don’t like McCain now will help turn them into enthusiastic McCain supporters by November?
Sorry, it’s over. Hussein takes this one in a Tidal Wave. McCain won’t even do as well as Bob Dole.
I think McCain needs some “tough love”. Those in charge, US voters need to sometimes bite the bullet in the short run to gain control in the long run. We’ve had too many bad boys doing things their way. The GOP is poorly run and needs a complete housecleaning. It needs a contract with its members, similar to the Contract with America.
McCain’s idea of uniting the party is telling everyone they need to unite behind him. Sell me, or drop out.
You really do think there is a difference between them dont you.
You are absolutely right. Huckabee is horrible but with McCain as the only other choice Huckabee IS the compromise. The Kennedy wing of the GOP can suck on that.

McCain against Obama, it is hard to tell.
That is my opinion.
Im talking about the man and making a point that we had better candidates that were snubbed. Now we are supposed to get in line for who the GOP wants?
Well put! I will not vote for McCain.
...and he’s gone downhill since then!
Lincoln was perhaps the least qualified in terms of prior public service. He served one term as a Congressman from Illinois.
Senators rarely win. Unfortunately it seems inevitable this year.
Well, I will work to see it isn’t McCain against anyone. And if it is, I write in my choice.

LOL!
I'm going to be a maverick this year and not vote for the RINO Benedict Arnold.
(The chutzpah of McCain to demand party loyalty! I'm still wiping his spit off my face, and he wants a kiss. NOT!)

I did not vote for McCain in the primary, but I wll vote for him in the general election by holding my nose if he is the nominee. I don’t want Hillary or Obama, and there is no way I will waste my vote on a third party candidate who does not have a chance to win
He raised taxes seven of his eight years.
