I've heard that this man is brilliant. I await the vetting of this subject expecting to find he was taken ridiculously out of context.

It might just be an object lesson in just how volatile public perceptions are.

I think he IS brilliant, a very accomplished theologian. The only problem is that he is fatally flawed.

How many academics are there in this world, who are also brilliant, but dumb, dumb, dumb when it comes to the basic moral issues of life?

I’d say that the Archbishop has similar problems.

I've heard that this man is brilliant.

Having read some of his equivocations on the TEC/ECUSA meltdown, I can say he elevates obfuscation into a fine art. If that's brilliance, then he's a genuine egghead.
