I am very disappointed in him also. I feel he led us on, then jumped ship.
I will try not to believe this was some thought-out plan of his to jump to McCain. It’s just not worth the effort at this point. :D

Oh pahleeese....he was the ONLY candidate that warned the ENTIRE party, *on national TV* that a takeover was in the works. That there were ‘those’ who were trying to redefine the party. That this election was about the heart & soul of the Republican party.
Then....military/their families/retired vets ignored the message and chose McCain while Bible thumpers sided with Huck. It’s just that simple. The outcome has been made clear and Fred has chosen to stand & fight as best he can. And so will I....
We’re now in the phase of damage control. Pinch yourselves, put your wee hankies down and roll up your damn sleeves.
Most losing presidential candidates endorse the eventual party nominee. I can't think of any who haven't.
Thompson didn't "jump ship."
