And it's still the same - the candidate does not decide, arbitrarily, who his running mate is going to be.
And that is a good thing - when you think about it.
The candidate is not the whole party -
Not to be suborn about this. - you see, I’m still curious why you say that.
I mean it sounds okay and rational, but I still do not see what anyone else can do if a candidate simply declares someone, and I do not see any basis to suppose that he cannot.
I suppose the GOP could withdraw endorsements and support from the candidate, but that would be an empty threat, don’t you think?
His delegates are still hand picked by his own organization and look to be pretty much his.
Certainly any candidate has spent a lot of time in close cooperation with his own party, but McCain also fits a more contrarian mold, as well.
