In a speech before the Anti-Defamation League in Los Angeles this week, McCain blamed the “sharp and intolerant” rhetoric in political discourse for creating the atmosphere of intolerance that led to the shootings at a Jewish community center there. This week he also suggested that while he is open to considering some gun control measures, a violence-obsessed media and hate-mongering Internet sites were more to blame for the culture of violence.

Of course I am. I supported him thinking he was the best candidate and thought he felt the same way. People can call me whatever name they’d like but when I support someone I do it 100%. I did not think he would endorse mclame because I thought HE thought he was still the best candidate.
Does NOT change my mind though. Still am not voting for mclame.
Yeah, I try to avoid it in online conversations. I’m always misunderstood when I do it. Bet it happens to you too, doesn’t it? I bet you even know which kinds of people not to be sarcastic with too.
Here, I try to be nice and (mostly) non-controversial. Except for maybe one of those other posts I might get lynched for. LOL

Which is why we fight for conservative senators and representatives.
McCain is what we have. We should close ranks and get behind him. Look at the alternatives. ARGH! It’s up to us to churn up some enthusiasm. Fred is doing his part, and so should we.

Maybe this is the best way to have a great man in a great position to provide common sense ideas to a questionable administration. AND THE ALTERNATIVE? HILLARY? OBAMA?
Wake up and smell the roses folks...it is certainly not the way we wanted it...but Ronald Reagan did not win the first time out...took him four years.
I for one would back that ticket! McCain/Thompson...yup, I could back that ticket. Think of all the positives rather than the negatives. We can hold his feet to the fire if he begins to stray off course. FRED would certainly be able to talk him off the edge in a tight position. I would rather have FRED there that Bill Clinton for example.

Just providing a bit of historical context and all.
Fred’s a good conservative but he didn’t get the votes. He has been aligned with McCain for many years. This should come as no surprise. Fred looks at McCain, Obama and Hillary and picks McCain. It’s not an irrational position.

We have a window, while hitlery and "O" are still spitting and scratching, to look like the grownups, to get a head start on solidifying our base.
it's time to do exactly that. We may not have gotten the cards we wanted, but there it is. Now it's time the take the cards we've been dealt and work from here.

Looks like Rush was right to not endorse Fred.
He basically said he wouldn’t endorse anyone because he was afraid that if he did, that person might endorse somebody like McKeating if they fell out of the running.
That was just a cop out so he could continue to support Mitt without ticking off the FredHeads. It doesn't even make sense. Didn't he later endorse Mitt? How did that work out?

And I’ll be joining you because I will never believe it will be the end of us. Not with what I know of history and those who fought for this country.
I still think we’re screwed, lol. And seriously, we are. It’s going to take another dark period (Civil War, Great Depression type period to make people realize). But I have no doubt, we will survive and win.
I’m angry and upset and sad by what’s happening in this country and how I think we’re too soft, from how we’re raising our kids, to education, to, hell everything. And I worry about illegals and politicians who pander to them (don’t even get me started on foreign affairs). But I will never give up hope that we will survive anything because the real americans, the people who made this country great and their decsendents (sp) will never allow that to happen. Just from reading here, I know there are thousands of Americans armed.
I still say we’re screwed because we are but no matter who gets elected (and I still think it’s Hillary), it won’t be the end of us/US/our country. There’s millions of americans who won’t allow that to happen.

As somebody pointed out in an article posted here recently, part of the problem is that the RNC has sat by and allowed a bad situation to develop. Namely, all of the early primaries are in liberal states, and many of them are open. So Democrats can cross over, and the conservative candidates have a momentum disadvantage.
Crist's endorsement of McCain in Florida may have been the killer. Florida has some conservatives, but it's not really a conservative state. And there was a time when New Hampshire was a conservative state, but that is long gone.
Also, I think the party pros and the media wanted either Giuliani or McCain to beat out the others. So when Giuliani tanked, they switched their support to McCain.
He could have just said “none of the above—” that would’ve been the best move.
