Yours truly and others have been saying the same for years on this forum.

"Gentlemen, comrades, do not be concerned about all you hear about glasnost and perestroika and democracy in the coming years. These are primarily for outward consumption. There will be no significant change within the Soviet Union, other than for cosmetic purposes. Our aim is to disarm the Americans and let them fall asleep."
Mikhail Gorbachev, speech to the Soviet Politburo, November 1987

After two decades the West has been thoroughly duped; its leaders manipulated, blackmailed, swindled to a point that overt hostile moves by the Russian military, or scathing threats from the Russian president, produces no meaningful reaction. Not to mention the military technology advancements.

This Author is leaving one important detail out of this narrative: The Russian population is collapsing and the Chinese are hungrily eyeing their shared border, waiting for an opportunity. So, in reality, who is the blind one?

So the declaration of ‘war on terror’ was the ultimate act of stupidity. We aren’t at war against terror, terror is a convenient weapon of state sponsored marxism.
A smooth payback to the terrorists in Kosovo and Nato simultaneously. They will hate us forever for what we did to Serbia. I don’t reall blame them.
Genius!
