That's what I told myself in 1992... 4 years, then they'll all see they should have listened to us, then surely we can take back the White House... Of course it didn't work that way. Four years turned into 8 years and almost 12 years had Gore succeeded in suing his way into the White House. Personally I think plenty of damage was done in those 8 years of Clinton. We may not have as much influence with McCain as we'd like... we have no influence over Billary Obama especially if we demonstrate defeat.
There was a big shift in Congress in 1994, though... and Clinton didn't really govern as a hardcore liberal. He was more interested in soaking up admiration and chasing tail than in pushing a leftist agenda.
What is the use of having the white house if the occupant reaches across the aisle and does every thing the Dems want.
You know, McCain changed after Bush beat him in the GOP primary in 2000. He became embittered and exacted his revenge by screwing Republicans. He crafted McCain-Feingold in an attempt to shut conservatives up. I have no doubt he would re-enact the fairness doctrine. He doesn’t give a darn about the constitution. He didn’t consider the American people and the effect his legislation would have-only revenge. I don’t think a guy like that should be President. He is dangerous.
