You asked for examples of McCain taking positions that amounted to telling us not what we want to hear, but what we need to hear. I gave ten such examples off the top of my head, that anyone familiar with McCain's positions on the issues will recognize.

If your original question to the previous poster was an honest question, I answered it. If you meant it to be rhetorical, I showed it needn't be, there are plenty of such issues.

That is all.

Since you got a substantive answer from me, that is dishonest.

Automated McCain Vanity response follows:

The thought of Obama in the White House will make me crawl over broken glass on election day to pull the lever for John McCain.

That being said, I will never believe in him or trust him and I despise him just as much as the next uber conservative.

In earlier threads I swore I would never vote for him.

Being realistic, I can see no other alternative at this point. So many conservatives are planning to stay home. I was one of them. He needs every vote we can give him. Without our votes, Obama will surely enter 1600, and hasten our destruction from within.

I too held hopes of a third party or brokered convention.

I don’t believe we have enough time for a third party. History has shown that it doesn’t work, it only splits the vote. Think Ross Perot.

The brokered convention would only confirm John McCain as the nominee.

I have come to the painful resignation that it’s clothespin time again, but I will bear no ill will toward anyone who cannot bring themselves to vote for him, just as I hope there is no ill will toward me for the decision I feel the need to make.

McCain 2008.
Hillary is a fraud, Obama is unqulified, John McCain fought and gave blood for Our Cause, he served as a public servant,
he’s my choice

“Since you got a substantive answer from me, that is dishonest.”

Since the original poster to whom I replied has not responded, it is you that is dishonest.

You owe me an apology.

Crickets are not chirping, the question has been asked and answered, and you had no substantive response to my post.

Crickets chirp, indeed. But not the ones you pretended.

And I owe you nothing.

“Do you believe your attitude and approach will win over undecided voters?”

I’m thinking he’s an escapee from DU. Talks like a DU’er, and answers argument just like a DU’er. All rant, no substance.

8 years here and 50,000 plus posts. Start with the war in Algeria and the lessons it held for the war on terror. Also the philosophy posts. Also trade economics. Also finance issues. Also global warming.

You just haven't a clue what you are up against. Freepers are always being mis-under-estimated...

I definitely support McCain.

One, I will absolutely bring up the war. Islamic Supremacists must be defeated.

Besides that, note that McCain is pro-school choice, pro-market healthcare, pro-personal retirement accounts, pro-free trade, pro-life, pro-gun, pro-Israel, pro-democracy in Iraq, and pro-making killing OBL a priority again.

Hell yeah, I support this guy. The conservative commentariat acts like people like me don’t exist.

The war and judges are of utmost importance and can’t be disregarded. Freezing taxes, holding the capital gains rate in place are also important. To disregard the competition is ludicrous. Obama has the highest liberal rating in the senate and Hillary is not far behind. Hill/ Obama’s plan will bring this country to its knees economically and create an astonomical unemployment rate. I’ll hold my nose and vote McCain if he’s the GOP nominee.

Can you make the case without bringing up the War?
Can you make the case without bringing up Judges?
Can you make the case without trashing Barack Obama?

I hereby nominate this for "Dumbest Post Ever".

Who are you rabid McCain haters? Do you work for George Soros? I really have to wonder? I supported Hunter, then Thompson, then Romney. Anyone but McCain. But he is our nominee, and I will support him 100% and vote for him in November.

With the global socialist jihadist Obama and the evil would-be welfare queen Clinton on the other side, who are you assclowns to demand that we "defend" our support of McCain. Anyone who undermines the GOP candidate in the face of evil is a traitor.

How about these apples:

2004 Senate - Illinois

Barack Obama - 70%
Alan Keyes - 27%

do we have to bring in Paul Harvey for the rest of the story?

That statement was made after the Forrestal fire. McCain flew several more missions after the fire before being shot down and taken as a POW.

A quote out of context doesn’t move the dialog in any positive direction.

John McCain has only TWO qualifications to be President:

He’s not Barack HUSSEIN Obama

and

He’s not Hillary Clinton (aka the Witch)

Whether those two are good enough to get him elected, time will tell.

What do you mean by "support"? McCain was not my candidate, but I will vote for him over Hillary or Obama.

Do you seriously need to be told why?

Thanks...Michael Steele is still my first choice.

Keyes did pretty well considering he didn't have the money, or the mafia nor even the Republican Party behind him.
