Heres a little John McCain quote for you that kind of backs up his selfless statement...
“I would rather win the war in Iraq then win the Presidency”
oh and by the way he meant it and had no idea how the surge would turn... Others were not so committed...
So your Idea of Conservatism is to support unconvicted leaders..?
“So your Idea of Conservatism is to support unconvicted leaders..?”
Look, I’m glad he supported the President on the surge. Let’s not forget - the surge wasn’t McCain’s idea. The President led the country on that issue, and McCain backed him up on it, which is the very least ANY INFLUENCIAL REPUBLICAN SENATOR SHOULD DO. The fact that McCain supported him when other putatively republican senators didn’t tells you a little about where we are today.
Your choice of words, ‘unconvicted’, is interesting, in that it actual DOES describe John McCain. He was ‘unconvicted’ of influence peddling and other crimes for the Keating Five scandal.
This election is going to be important in the history of the US because it will be the first time in a long time that two Senators are going to face off for the election.
The electorate generally prefers executive experience in their Presidents. The electorate has obviously decided that experience in running a government, a company, foreign policy experience, etc. is not important.
