The Dewey Loman American Legion Post 109 is the place to be tonight for Maryland Republicans.
Thats where presidential candidate Sen. John McCain and ex-presidential candidate Mitt Romney are both scheduled to speak this evening in Halethorpe Maryland.
Romney was previously scheduled to attend the event, while McCain announced his surprise appearance this morning.
And just minutes ago, McCains campaign put out word that the Arizona senator would be picking up a major endorsement at this evenings Baltimore County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner.
Minutes later, former Massachusetts Gov. Romney announced he would be ending his bid for the White House.
One source with knowledge of tonights event tells PolitickerMD.com that former Gov. Bob Ehrlich will not be the one introducing McCain before the presidential candidate delivers brief remarks; however, Ehrlich aides say he will be announcing his endorsement this evening.
But does an Ehrlich endorsement qualify for a national teaser endorsement at this stage of McCain's campaign? We think not.
There are implications that Romney, who has been locked in a bitter fight with McCain, would make the quick endorsement with the hope of unifying their party.
According to an advance text of his speech to the 2008 CPAC conference obtained by Times Mark Halperin, Romney said, I disagree with Senator McCain on a number of issues, as you know.
But I agree with him on doing whatever it takes to be successful in Iraq, on finding and executing Osama bin Laden, and on eliminating Al Qaeda and terror. If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make it more likely that Senator Clinton or Obama would win.
Don’t forget he’s a member of CFR(globalist) and supports L.O.S.T. (un). Both sellouts to America’s sovereignty.
this guy looks like ‘Bull’ from Nightcourt.

Please Freep the above and ask Romney not to endorse this clown.
Nice ditty! Now wake me when all the stinky stuff stops fallin out of the backside of the Republican Party’s now leading non-CONservative bovine!!!
So, looks like this election will be either:
A devious harpy who’s made a life out of learning to manipulate elections VS a liberal septuagenarian senator who’s flip-flopped more than Kerry, gives boring speeches, and thinks Putin is the president of Germany
OR
An empty-suit stuffed with “love” and “hope”, black replica of Jimmah Cahter VS a liberal septuagenarian senator who’s flip-flopped more than Kerry, gives boring speeches, and thinks Putin is the president of Germany
I don’t think I’ve ever been so unenthusiasic about an election in my life.
Somebody please tell me this is not true. Mitt should support Huckabee and try to keep McCaniac from getting the numbers he needs. Not sure it’s possible, but for him to support McCain... This is one mind boggling political season for republicans. The outcome doesn’t look good.
You are wrong, my friend. I’m pro-life and pro-military but also, for example, pro-environment and against marriage amendment.
Exactly! Unfortunately, most of the people on this site calling themselves "conservatives" and "FReepers" follow the dictates of a bloated, oxycontin-addicted, bag of break-wind who evaded the draft because of a pimple on his @$$! Oh well, I guess the people of Germany had Josef Goebbels too!
One last example of Romney’s over-inflated sense of his own importance, and his propensity to spin fairy tales. His withdrawal has absolutely nothing to do with the war.
A great concession speech by Romney
as he honorably bowed out
of the presidential race:
"I have to stand aside..."
you said it
keeping Obama and Hill out is why i am voting McCain in the general
That's funny! You don't know much about McCain's record, do you? Corruption? Lobbyist's money? Ever hear of the Keating 5?
Rush isn’t a leader. He’s an entertainer, a showman. I bet five bucks he stops talking crap about staying home or voting for third parties before long too. You know why? Because if he alienates the Republican party he will lose a lot of his listeners. He’d lose money. Rush is all about making money. He and even that shrew Ann Coulter will change their tunes because they are both just whores with no real principles and neither one of them is stupid enough to alienate a huge portion of their audience. Wait and see.
Perhaps I am wrong, but I don’t consider being pro-environment to be ‘moderate.’
I was interested in knowing what you think about yourself divides you from whatever you consider ‘true’ conservatives to be.
“What is all this talk about Romney trying again in 2012. Did he cut a deal with McCain to be VP on a one-term McCain presidency?”
No! We just know that McCain is not going to be POTUS.
No. I don’t know if it is true, but I know it doesn’t matter, Romney’s exit is a tacit endorsement of McCain anyway. In his speech, he explained why he was leaving, and it wasn’t so that he would “clear the way” for Huckabee to fight for the nomination.
Huckabee was more conservative than McCain, which means Romney would have more in common with Huckabee than McCain. But there’s no point in endorsing a guy who cannot win, even if Romney had any reason to endorse a guy who essentially called him a devil-worshipper (that’s hypberbole, guys).
Like it or not McCain is the only one of the 3 that is willing to take on the Islamo Facists.
If we walk away in Iraq, like Hillary and Obama want to do, how do we ever look the soldiers that have fought and the families of those that have died, in the face again? It would be Viet Nam all over again.
If Hillary or Obama win the WH they also win, in essence, the DOJ, the CIA, and so on.
I just don’t see how we can in good conscience let that happen?
Somebody who can reply by putting their hatred for McCain aside, explain to me how letting the Dims be in charge and set the tone in all the afore mentioned is a good thing for this country??
I am soooooooooooooooo confused??
Hey, it sound great to me.
