Freedoms we enjoy in this nation should never be taken for granted

George Shultz story.... One more test they had to take... Go to the globe and identify the country.... Ambassador .. Mike Mansfield.... Amb to Japan... Had Mansfield put his hand on US and said this is my country .... crowd applauds.

Americans can be proud this is our country.

Little hope without active leadership from America

Nation of influence and nation of character sets US apart in world.

Our purposes are good and right decisive years much still to do

Economy to strengthen and war to win

DONE

Bush sits next to McCain/Liebo at prayer breakfast

An ‘08’ish White House pool report from Cox’s Bob Deans:

The president delivered his final address before some 4,000 guests at the National Prayer Breakfast, leaving the White House at 8 a.m. for the Washington Hilton in Kalorama and returning at 9:30.

En route to the event, his motorcade passed by a large crowd at Connecticut and K, where a woman held up a blue “Hillary” sign.

Seated at a table on the front row just to the president’s left as he spoke was GOP presidential front-runner Sen. John McCain. Seated to his immediate left was Sen. Joe Lieberman.

With speculation rife that Lieberman might possibly become McCain’s running mate, we asked Lieberman whether this breakfast was to discuss that possibility.

“No,” Lieberman insisted, “we pray for each other.”

McCain’s response:

“I’ve not sought God’s help yet on that,” said McCain, noting that it would be “premature,” then adding, “I’d like to see if we can win the nomination before we begin that process.”
