The current questions

Is the recent drop in temperatures just a short term trend ?

Any reason to think it isn't? The weather has always been unpredictable. If a butterfly flaps its wings in New Jersy, that's enough to cause a typhoon in Bangeladesh a year later.

Try this for starters. The red curves on the right are the 'please do not freeze my cajones' predictions.

We just went through 4 years with a Sunspot number max at 50 or less. Looks like we will be there for at least another year, two maybe more.

The weather has always been unpredictable.

Short term weather always is unpredictable. We do however know that we are due to enter another ice age historically speaking. That cycle has been going on for 100's of thousands of years. A lot of people were hoping Global Warming could prevent the fall. Looks like we might just a bunch of apes living on a water planet after all.

If a butterfly flaps its wings in New Jersey, that's enough to cause a typhoon in Bangladesh a year later.

But can a Typhoon in Bangladesh cause a Butterfly in New Jersey to flap its wings ?
