So, what now, Boss? Where do we go from here? [Old Sarge]

Well, Jim suggested folks cobble behind Huck Jan. 31 (not that Huck was his first choice...wasn't mine, either)...I think Jim made a difference today & should be commended.

At the very least, the GOP is being sent a message that we care about those young folks in the womb, we care about marriage & the family, we care about the Second Amendment, we care about healthcare starting with ourselves--not delegating it to Dr. Sam Nannycare, we care about judges on the Supreme Court (Huckabee has the best position on that bar none), and we care about religious liberties.

But it'll be up to the grassroots to speak to their county & district & state & national conventions all thruout '08 to put the GOP on notice about illegal immigration and protecting taxpayers & stopping the government from reproducing its bureaucracy. (The grassroots has not been heard very well by the GOP establishment on these issues)

McCain will be crowned and it will be business as usual. The Huckabee delegates are going to shake it up? Not going to happen.

Would your prefer a “partnership of war” with China?

Yes, 20 years of writing about the subject and being involved with organizations such as the American Security Council

“However, a brokered convention might be the beginning of a giant shock to the GOP system”

So would space aliens landing and reinstituting the feudal system ... both are equally likely. Zero chance.

I prefer a president that sees the reality of the situation. It is not a partnership.

at least we won't have RomneyCare 2.0 @ the fed level

Nope, you'll have HillaryCare 2.0. I hope that will do it for ya.

We both love our country too much to gloat about this even if we turn out correct. What a nightmare election this is going to be.

But the Republic has survived much worse crises then this. We will survive this one too. That is the genius of our system. Going to be up to us now to limit the damage so it revives faster.

It is also notable that Huckabee won his home state by a much larger margin than did Romney in his. A referendum on the better governor by those that were governed.

Very good point. People fail to mention what a horrible state Arkansas was in due to the Guy Tucker years...infrastructure was let go...so at least the state was better off infrastructure wise & GOP party remnant wise than was the Bay State...still, not exactly "shining" stars on the GOP hill. (We better start grooming somebody who can pull us together in 2011-2012).

Guess what....moderates make up the majority of America. The sooner the Gop learns that the better.

Bwahahaha! You big crybaby! Elect a Conservative (God and Guns) or lose the South. It has ALWAYS been so, and God bless Dixie for it! There is still hope for us.

and I am in Montana, BTW...

“Hugh Hewitt”

Oh man, I forgot about him.

Although for many years he was my number two radio host, my very first post on FR was about him being a rino of some sort, I think pollyanish was in there.

He won’t be happy about this.

I lived in Arkansas for a brief period in the early 1980’s. It was a horrible place then and now. Tucker had nothing to do with it.

What about Thune?

He was a fabulous candidate for the Senate in 2002. I just haven’t managed to keep up with what he has been doing since he was elected.

“We both love our country too much to gloat about this even if we turn out correct. What a nightmare election this is going to be.”

You are right.

In the end I hope freepers come around to supporting the GOP ticket whoever it is. Even if we are stuck with the ‘evil of 2 lessers’,
there is still a chasm of difference between the GOP and Democrats.

But as conservatives, we cannot expect leadership from McCain Presidency, if he makes it. It will be like the worst parts of the Bush presidency.

“But the Republic has survived much worse crises then this. We will survive this one too.
“That is the genius of our system. Going to be up to us now to limit the damage so it revives faster.”

Yes. WE SURVIVED JIMMY CARTER, WE CAN SURVIVE ANYONE.
