Dear Republican Party,

We’re through! Don’t bother calling because I won’t answer.

Good bye.

I could never see how Rudy could even make a dint in the primary process. It was obvious that he knew he could not win or even compete anywhere except Florida. And he fell flat on his face their.

The Reagan wins and all since then show that a winning Republican candidate must have the right positions on four issues.

Those are
1. An aggressive foreign policy designed to defend the USA.
2. A plan to cut taxes and reduce the size and scope of Government.
3. The right to keep and bear arms. 4. The Right to life .. free from abortion.

Any candidate that is not right on all four of those issues is a dead duck.

But I also think Winston Churchill was right when he said any young person who is not a liberal has no heart. And any middle aged person who is not a conservative has no brain.

Oh man, you guys need to stop this anti-McCain stuff. Let’s be rational and realize that Senator McCain is running as a conservative.

A deadlocked national convention will not result in a white knight riding in to save the day. It will be a backroom deal resulting in McCain grabbing the crown and placing it upon his head.

He will move the party to the left to keep the respect of “his good friends”. Although he has voted pro-life, it is not an issue he has any great passion for or commitment to. John McCain has neither the temperament nor the deep loyalty to conservative principles to be a good president.

Mike Huckabee and John McCain are just what this country needs! Pro-amnesty, anti-Gitmo, pro-tax, pro-campaign finance reform, anti-conservative SC judges, anti-ANWR, anti-energy independence! What a platform!

... all for what? A single issue, which Mitt Romney has made a switch on, but does represent the conservative view.

This wasn’t a victory for liberty or life. This was a victory for the simple-minded and single issue voters and it won’t be a victory for any of us in November.

At least the previously {cough} pro abortion former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney was politically astute enough to realize that a pro abortion candidate cannot win the Republican nomination, so, wisely, some say cunningly, adjusted his core bedrock principles accordingly."

Is there a GOP candidate left that was never pro abortion?

Oh, Jim, why’d ya have to go blow a good opening by throwing a jab at my guy? You had me going and I was with ya but then Whammo right in the gut. Romney is a good family man.

I am going to try and be polite in this discussion so that my comments are not removed by the moderator. You need an education in how the American Political System works. It really does not matter if the president is for or against abortion. He/She CANNOT do anything about it! Can you not get this through your thick skulls! The only way in which a president can conceivably do something about abortion is to nominate strict constructionist judges to the Supreme Court. If (and this is a big if) a case were to come to the the supreme court where Rowe v. Wade decision could be overturned the abortion decision goes back to the State Legislatures. Some states would probably outlaw abortion but the vast majority would not.
I can assure you of one thing, if Clinton or God help us Obama were to be nominated you will NOT get Supreme Court Justices who will overturn Rowe v. Wade.
Just to go on the record, I am against abortion but we a fighting an incredibly STUPID battle against it. By voting for Buffoons like Huckster and Co. you will assure a McCain victory and most likely a Clinton victory.
To win the battle over abortion we will first need to win the culture war. Then we can win the political war. How to do this? Well that is beyond the scope of this blog. However it is possible but it will be a long and difficult struggle. However defeating Romney will be a disaster. You may get some perverse satisfaction from this but it is cutting off your nose to spite your face!
This is why H.L. Mencken will again be proven correct when he stated that nobody ever went broke betting against the intelligence of the American public.

Pray for an end to abortion and the conversion of America to a mindset of life!

The republicans will become more and more moderate on almost every issue including abortion to get more bang for their buck and try to appeal to more dems to stay alive. They won’t have a choice once the borders open up and the huge number of new dem voters sign up year after year and move into the south, that is my prediction.

I am happy as well that Rudy was not on the ballot at the caucuses here tonight. My 8 year old granddaughter accompanied me and charmed her State Senator and others, (she is better at it than me). It was a fine opportunity to introduce her to the process.

The vote, the split--Mitt 35%, McCain 22%, Paul 21%, Huckabee 19%, and Keyes <1% (not sure where the rest--the other 3%--went), shows deep rifts in the party, here, anyway.

Whatever the Republican Party does, Conservatives must keep up the fight, either within the party or elsewhere.

It is past time to think strategically, though, and consider veep candidates who will be capable of still serving in 16 years, at the end of four terms from now.

As much as I respect Fred, this would leave him out.

The absence of such men (or women) groomed for the job, or at least with a suitable resumee is what has hurt us this year so far, and may continue to do so. Conservatives should think carefully about who they elect to Governorships, lieutenant Governorships, the Senate, and the House, for this very reason, with an eye toward the White House as well.

No Guiliani? One bright victory in a grim battle in a long war for the America we want to pass on to our great-grand children.

Thanks again for this forum, the perspective gained here is mighty helpful in what might be otherwise darker times.

This election is about the Supreme Court. That is the litmus test on whether we gain or lose ground. The Dems and Repubs will try and increase or decrease taxes, spending, health care ..... but you can’t increase or decrease LIFE.

You either kill it or you don’t. Your either a liberal or a Conservative.

Life must be the first priority. Everything else, taxes, spending, the war, homosexual agenda etc.................... comes after you have life.

I was very afraid Rudy was 'their' pick for us.(nothing to do with abortion, everything to do with gun bans) Thankfully, they changed the menu and now our choice is McCain. Ain't mobocracy grand?

On the bright side, with HillCare, the lines will be so long and waits so intolerable, fetuses may develope to a point where they start kicking and the abortor may have second thoughts.

As a guy, the miracle of life is unknown, yet rumblings in my own body get me to thinking about things like, oh, I don't know, 'moderation'?

As a comedian once extolled about a woman's special virtue: "Nothing that comes out of my body will eventually graduate from college."
