It depends on what you mean by ‘conservative’. He’s arguably more socially conservative (though not by much). He is clearly far less fiscally conservative.
Due to his ignorance of foreign policy, science and economics, Huck should be kept as far away from the Presidency as possible.

Romney had the majority of votes by far in the first round of voting at 41%. If McCain had not instructed his supporters to make a dirty deal, Romney wins the state easily.
No, we saw McCain surrender HIS share of the vote to push Huck past Romney. He took this step simply to deny Romney the delegates from WV. Huck is nothing more than McCain's lap dog at this point.
Eh, I know politics are dirty. This is beyond dirty though. I never in my wildest nightmares thought McCain would be the nominee.

If any of the Huckabee voters were voting Huckabee to stop McCain, but really wanted Romney (yeah right), they could have switched to Romney on the 2nd ballot, considering he won the first ballot and McCain was a distant 3rd.

Huckabee wants a job in the mccain administration should queeg somehow manage to wiggle his way into the White House. His constant attacks on Romney while ignoring mccain makes that so obvious. You're not talking to a bunch of kids.
This happened to our conservatives in our 1st district convention in Virginia. The leading conservative had the most votes in the 1st round, but after each round a few people left, and the most conservative guy wasn’t friends with all the other candidates, so in the end the last two other candidates standing made a deal and won the nomination for one of them.
Romney needed to have a majority show up, and he was a little short. Of the people that showed up, a majority opposed him. A majority didn’t support Huckabee either, but McCain’s people are certain that Huckabee is not a threat, so it wasn’t hard to get them to vote for Huckabee.
I think the attitude has happened ever since Huck entered the race. He started it, and he did it for McCain.
I was for Fred, but I don’t like what is going on now.
If you can tolerate McCain, go ahead, Huck will not be the candidate.

How do you figure? Because Huckabee raised "hope" instead of "fees"? Huckabee didn't institute socialized health care scheme that's already running a $400 million deficit, like Romney did.

Why would any Huckabee people leave their own candidate just because McCain tells his people to vote for Huckabee?
That was the beauty of it. I doubt Huckabee could have gotten HIS delegates to vote for McCain, but he didn’t have to.
Let’s see it happen without our support.
If McCain keeps making dirty deals with Huckabee just to deny Romney the vote by blatantly exploiting loopholes, then McCain will find the door closing in his face when he goes to court the base.
I am not a McCain basher. You can check my post history and see that. In fact, in many ways I respected him. But today’s incident has taken him down quite a few notches in my eyes.
I expect unethical dirty tricks from the Rat party. It just shows how far down the RINOs have dragged the once proud GOP.

Huckabee has dissed McCain's issues quite a bit lately.
Remember, people who show up at conventions aren’t generally the “undecided” type. TOld that their preferred candidate would gain by voting for Huckabee, of course they voted for Huckabee. The fact McCain had to tell them to do so, and do it in the 2nd round, shows that left on their own, a few of them would have voted for Romney.
And I’m certain the Huckabee people wouldn’t have gone for a deal to vote for McCain. But they certainly weren’t going to complain about a deal that gives their guy a win, because they still think Huckabee can come out ahead.
But if McCain thought Huckabee was his big threat, he would have thrown his votes to Romney to stop Huckabee.
