Saturday morning, Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch were in the NASCAR hauler for a second meeting regarding Friday night's on-track incident where Busch purposely banged into Stewart's car, a retaliation for Stewart pushing Busch into the wall during Bud Shootout practice.
Following Saturday morning's second meeting, also attended by Stewart's team owner Joe Gibbs, Stewart released the following statement:
"Kurt got here because he has a lot of talent. What Kurt did coming onto pit road...I've done a lot worse than what he did, so I'm not going to throw stones about it.
"It's a different car package that what we've ever had here. The closing rates are different. And nobody whose race car got torn up last night is happy. Kurt's emotion and his desire and passion to win are much like mine. The easiest way for us to go out and do what we do is just to agree to disagree and go on from there.
"I'm not mad at him about what happened on the race track at all. What happened, happened. We can't fix it. We can't change it. The best thing to do is to go on and move forward and not let this linger between the two of us. And hopefully, the media will respect that and not keep it going longer than today.
"We've met in the NASCAR trailer twice now and we're both past it and we're hoping that the media will respect that fact too and let us move on from it."
Rumors still persist throughout the garage that Stewart punched Busch while both were inside the NASCAR hauler on Friday night. However, Busch exhibits no proof of any altercation between the two.
However, NASCAR has stated that there could be disciplinary action taken as a result of what happened on Friday night sometime next week. NASCAR customarily issues its fines on Tuesday.
Unlike Busch, if Stewart would receive any kind of disciplinary action, it would not be because of anything that happened while Stewart was in his race car.
Dude....Chi-town? Didn't I just hear that they set a record for snow this year?
Wait....my screen....frosting over....can't see....
Sorry, could not resist. Born and raised in Iowa, I know what cold and snow is.
Which is why I've been a desert rat for the last 22 years!
Ok, so I won't tell ya I've got the winders and doors open, or that I'll be starting the dogs and burgers (had to change up from the planned baby backs) here shortly.....nope, won't tell ya none of that.
T-minus 67 minutes.........
Stay warm!
