WRT to the lend-lease of logisitical supplies such as the studebaker, I’m of the opinion that in hindsight, allowing the Soviet Union to make such rapid advances into eastern Europe was counterproductive considering how they enslaved practically every country they ‘liberated’.
As I said before, Stalingrad occured before Lend-Lease arrived in quanitities large enough to make a difference. Once Hitler had lost Paulus’ Sixth Army, the Germany invasion of the USSR was doomed (if it hadn’t been from the start anyway, considering the impossible goal of invading and occupying the Soviet Union)...
Oh, I also posted that Stalingrad occurred before Lend-Lease arrived too.
This is such a ridiculous thread.
I consistently like to remind my French-loving leftist friends of the GDP of all the ex-British colonies (US, Canada, Australia, India, HK, etc etc) vs. all the ex-French colonies (ugh).
And thundrey, if we concede that the Reds defeated Hitler all by their lonesomes, you will concede that we kept the Reds from overrunning the world, and instead rebuilt the rubble when we the rest of the world was at their weakest and the AMerican homeland was essentially unscathed and sick of war.
Prince Andrew is rightly rebuked here, because obviously, WE DID learn a thing or two from the UK. And we’re still in the midst of our duty that we were conscripted into in 1941.
The British made the waves safe for trade and prosperity. Now the USN keeps the lifeblood of energy open in the Persian Gulf. Who else is to do that? China?
How bout this guy?
We are fighting for the inalienable right of humankind—black or white, Christian or not, left, right or a million different—to be free, free to raise a family in love and hope, free to earn a living and be rewarded by your efforts, free not to bend your knee to any man in fear, free to be you so long as being you does not impair the freedom of others.
That’s what we’re fighting for. And it’s a battle worth fighting.
And I know it’s hard on America, and in some small corner of this vast country, out in Nevada or Idaho or these places I’ve never been to, but always wanted to go...
I know out there there’s a guy getting on with his life, perfectly happily, minding his own business, saying to you, the political leaders of this country, “Why me? And why us? And why America?”
And the only answer is, “Because destiny put you in this place in history, in this moment in time, and the task is yours to do.”
And our job, my nation that watched you grow, that you fought alongside and now fights alongside you, that takes enormous pride in our alliance and great affection in our common bond, our job is to be there with you.
You are not going to be alone. We will be with you in this fight for liberty.
We will be with you in this fight for liberty. And if our spirit is right and our courage firm, the world will be with us.
Thank you.
