Governor Mitt Romney on Victory in Maine
PR Newswire Press Release via Yahoo News ^ | Feb 2,2001

Posted on 02/02/2008 5:56:16 PM PST by AmericanMade1776

Throughout the state of Maine, people have gathered at their local caucus site over the last two days and cast their vote for conservative change in Washington. With only a few caucus sites left to report tomorrow, Governor Romney issued the following statement concerning his victory in Maine:

"Today, the people of Maine joined those from across the nation in casting their vote for conservative change in Washington. All across the state, men and women gathered to help chart the future course of our country. Tonight, they have made their voice known and have endorsed our conservative vision for a stronger America. Like many Americans, the people of Maine are tired of Washington promises made but broken.

"The need for change in Washington is even more apparent today. With our economy facing uncertain times, we need a leader who actually understands how the economy works and how jobs are created. We also need a leader from outside of Washington who is ready to meet the long-term challenges facing our country. With a career spent working in the economy, creating jobs, turning around faltering institutions and imposing fiscal discipline, I am ready to bring conservative change to Washington. In this campaign, I am proud to have the support of the people of Maine."

You know, I just can't figure out why, with Talk Radio (the ones you mentioned, plus Savage and a few others) so against McCain it hasn't had any impact on the primaries. I hate to say this, for fear of jinixing it, but I'm praying that maybe this result in Maine is evidence of that impact finally being seen.

I really tried to get past JM’s past record, and look at who he is today to make my decision. The last debate showed a man who, IMHO, is unhinged, and unstable. He really creeped me out.

I agree, but what creeped me out even MORE than McCain's performance was after the debate when the ENTIRE MSM went into psycho overdrive calling him the "winner". I found it very disturbing.

I decided early last week and my husband decided yesterday. Hunter and Thompson were my first choices, not in any order really, but I liked what both stood for, etc. And again, I wouldn’t have known about them if I hadn’t found this site less than a year ago. Guiliani was my 3rd choice but even before he dropped out I was leaning towards Romney in the primary. My husband was still leaning towards Guiliani but texted me from a bar on Tuesday night saying Guiliani was going to endorse McCain. I texted him back saying I had known that two hours before he did because I was on here keeping up to date with everything, lol.

I really think McCain will get the nom and will be slaughtered by Hillary in the general (and by the MSM). But he won’t get our votes in the primary.

Just wondering, what happens if (probably when) McCain gets the republican nom? What do we do then? I’ve never not voted but I don’t think I could vote for McCain. I appreciate and value his military service, my dad was a WWII vet who died in 99 and couldn’t stand McCain back then. I have other family members/friends, former military and currently military, none want McCain, don’t trust him. None want hillary or Obama either. I’ve talked to so many conservative republicans the last few days and all are voting Romney on Tuesday and he wasn’t their choice until this week. Most are conservatives in everything but not one issue voters. And at the end of all our discussions, it’s the same question, what happens/what do we do if and probably when McCain is the repub nom.

HG, you have been around a long time and we have posted back and forth on many issues. I believe we have agreed on 99% of them.

I confess to you my FRiend, Jesus Christ of Nazereth and Him crucified. He is my Savior and the only One I look to for salvation through His wonderous and miraculous atonement and redemption. He is my Savior and I confess Him to you openly.

I am also a member of the Chirch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is no cult, despite our other differences in interpretation and on various other points of doctirne.

We go about trying to do good and bringing people to Christ. I respect and acknowledge that others, not of my faith are doing the same...bringing people to a knowledge of their Savior. That is a good thing.

I pray God will bless our land and allow us to avoid the dangers of this current time. Romney was not my 1st or 2nd choice. He was a distant third behind Hunter and then Thompson. But of those left, I believe he is the best GOP answer, particularly to beat McCain, and also the best chance to defeat the DNC candidates, either of which would even be far worse.

God's speed to you my FRiend. I know you love this country and all it is based upon and want to preserve it. So do I.

Romney now has won four and placed second in others. I believe there has been an impact. But powerful forces are arrayed against him and his candidacy. He now has a huge mountain to climb against McCain endorsed by so many powerful names, and the split vote resulting from Huckabee.

I believe he can still do it. Maine shows us, that at leat in some places, both obstacles in the GOP can be overcome at once. I hope and pray there are quite a few others on Tuesday.

I’ll tell you what we do.

Rather than waiting to take congress in 2010, after Hillary! wins, we do the following principled thing that does not involve a third party candidate like Perot.

1) Vote for Hillary!
2) Vote for a republican congress.

This would neutralize the left and send a very powerful message. It would also motivate the base to vote FOR something like we did in ‘94.

It is also doable since Rush, Sean and Levin could EASILY make it happen.

We could even call in to these shows to help make it happen.

Every big name pol in Maine had endorsed McCain. This is a really sweet victory. Snowe and Collins have egg on their faces big time.

News reports show that there was a huge turnout and the GOP Chairman said he had not seen such a big turnout in the caucus since Reagan was running in 1980.

That means Conservatives are Motivated Big Time!!! We have just begun to fight.

On to Super Tuesday and More Wins!!! Go Mitt!!!

Cult enabler.

I guess you're too stupid to realize that Christiany started out as a "cult" as well.

Romney publically on National TV declared his belief in JC for salvation and that is enough for me. We have had Christian presidents that do not behave as such.

I’m not sure what you’re telling me. I also appreciate his personal life (stable family, married to the same woman, etc.) and his financial success. I’m all for making it financially and know that he’s educated on economics. All a plus for me. I trust him more than I trust McCain and those are the two options right now (oh and I don’t trust huckabee except on his view concerning pro life and that’s the only thing I trust him on and it’s not enough to get me to vote for him). He’s a Mormon and quite honestly that concerns me a tad but no more than those who have run or gained office while claiming to be Catholic when they were CINOs. The whole Kennedy clan disgusts me and they could be the most conservative running on the repub ticket instead of the dem ticket and I would never vote for them. My point is there are probably a lot of mormons who will vote for Romney just because he’s mormon just like a lot of stupid catholics voted for JFK just because he was catholic.

We’re voting Romney on Tuesday and hope McCain doesn’t get the nom. I really don’t think I could ever vote for McCain even in the general against Hillary. I’ve never not voted. I can see Romney as POTUS and hope for the best. I can’t see McCain as POTUS and know he will screw us if he wins.

1) Vote for Hillary!
2) Vote for a republican congress.

Pushing that as an affirmative strategy may cause people to be more motivated to go to the polls (necessary for #2). If Hillary! were to win 50 states while the Democrats lost seats in the House and Senate, I would think the message would be pretty clear. But would that be what would actually happen?

I will never cast a vote for Hillary. Or Obama (but he’s going to out soon anyway). Congress is important, moreso than POTUS most of the time. Far too many don’t understand that.

I’m not a *caller into shows*, hell I usually don’t watch or listen but just read transcripts, and usually don’t do the email thing either. I did email and call every member of Congress during the Amnesty debacle. This site got me riled to act. I’d also like to thank DeMint (?) for his stand supporting the military in California so I may call or email him if the info is posted.

I could never vote for hillary but I’m not sure I could vote for McCain in the general either just to try to stop her. I think they’re one in the same only that one I know is coming and one gives the small hope it won’t happen but then usually does happen. Make sense?

I read that too. In addition, they had a terrible ice and sleet storm, yet the parking lots were jammed with cars. Crawling over ice instead of glass? I hope so.

Me too. The thought of McCain as the Republican nominee is unthinkable to me. And the prospect of an open borders McCain presidency is unbearable. I am going to be biting my nails as Tuesday’s results start coming in.
