The number of gay weddings has plummeted by more than 50 per cent in the past year. Civil partnerships became legal for homosexuals in December 2005, allowing them to acquire the same sorts of tax and pension rights as straight married couples.
Initially, thousands of gay and lesbian couples held ceremonies. However, a survey by the Local Government Association found that all the 40 councils across England they surveyed had experienced a fall in the number taking place - the figures show an average drop of 55 per cent in 2007 from 2006.

What are the stats on gay divorces? About 100% I’d bet.
Now maybe these royal pains in the behind will go away.
The same thing is happening in Massachusetts, US. After a big start the numers dropped dramatically.
Nice pun.
It was NEVER about “weddings” or “marriage.” It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Sometimes I get the impression that people in the “media” are REALLY “slow.”
At the risk of getting flamed, I would like to share with you all my experience with and exposure to “gay marriage.” For a long time I lived on Capitol Hill. My next door neighbors were “The Toms,” a very nice, stable couple, regular church-goers and choir singers, whose house was beautifully kept and who threw great parties — in short, among the most respectable people on our block. They were not married, and would have hooted at the idea, but they were “together.” They looked after my pets when I was out of town, climbed onto my roof in a torrential rainstorm when there was something badly wrong with my gutter, fixed little things around my house that I couldn’t, brought me chicken soup when I was sick and were generally just about the best neighbors I ever had. They were unfailingly kind and generous. Then they changed jobs and moved away, selling their house to a single gay man. He had different, very dubious looking men going in and out of that house every day and night. Two of them beat him up. One guy stole his Beemer. There was constant noise, constant uproar, and he was very nasty and unpleasant, a lawyer at a federal financial oversight agency. Who would you rather live next to?
They must have learned about the "he gets to keep half of your stuff when you split up" part.
A married heterosexual couple with three kids and a dog. ;-)
I couldn’t afford to buy that house and give it to the married heterosexual couple with three kids and a dog, and they couldn’t afford to buy it, either. You would not believe the cost of real estate that close to the Capitol. :}
so you’ve learned that gay people vary at about the same rate that straight people do.
The spoiled child will throw a tantrum to get a toy, then immediately discard it. Infantile conduct has become a political movement in the world. As it is with the killing of unborn children, it’s just about power.
“Who would you rather live next to?”
So you’re saying that gay people can only be decent if they’re allowed to marry? I guess I’m missing your point.
Isn’t this expected? I mean, there were probably a lot of gay couples that wanted to marry for years but couldn’t until it was legalized. Most of them probably married in the first year, so there was an initial surge in gay marriages. By the second year, the long-term established couples (the ones most likely to marry) were already married, and mostly new couples married. I guess I just don’t see why this is such a shocker.
Nah, they just stay ‘married’ and keep fooling around with other people on the side.
Gay Weddings are down 50% and Gay divorces are up 50 precent.
LOL They found out they would have to stay together forever.
Homosexuals need to keep in mind, however, that the good news of the gospel is not about how God despises same-sex sexual relationships. In fact, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 indicates that certain members of that church had been slaves to such relationships but had been cleansed in Jesus' name. So these former homosexuals had evidently repented and accepted God's grace to straighten their lives out.
