Anne Coulter makes some excellent points in the video, but I think voting for either Obama or Clinton is a bridge too far for any Republican; however, staying home election day in November and not voting for Romney, McCain, or the Huckster is quite rational due to the fact that none of that threesome stand for true REPUBLICAN ideology — capitalism, limited constitutional government and INDIVIDUAL rights.

The Party of Lincoln needs to get back to its Radical Republican roots and ruthlessly purge from the Party any politician who violates the Platform.

I agree with you that a third party would mean a Democrat(National Socialist) in the White House. But John McCain is not a good choice for president since he is basically a senator who knows how to effect comprimises with the dems. He believes in Global Warming. I would like to see more about returning to the Gold Standard as Ron Paul said Reagan would have liked. Without real borders and real money we are all in for huge difficulties irrelgardless of who gets in the White House. But Hillary and Obama are just elitist Socialists who don’t trust the American People to understand what the real problems are. McCain looks very similar to me.

Thanks NavVet, the link is to a early 2007 article in The Hill:

Daschle said:

“He said McCain was invited to a meeting in Kennedy’s office with several other Democratic senators but “didn’t know what the meeting was for” and left soon thereafter. Weaver added that Edwards approached McCain on the Senate floor to discuss the matter.
Daschle, however, said the talks went much further, claiming that there were times that he and Democratic leaders thought McCain “might be our best opportunity.” Daschle stressed that McCain never considered becoming a Democrat, but was close to becoming an Independent.
Downey said, “I actually thought during the initial stages of this that [McCain leaving the Republican Party] was almost a certain deal.”
Weaver, who changed his party affiliation to “Democrat” several years ago, said he respects Daschle and Downey, but added, “They’re partisan Democrats and we’re in the political season.”

Told of Weaver’s version of what happened, Daschle said, “Obviously, our recollection of what transpired is somewhat different.””

And to make things even more clouded, the Article meanders back and forth, sometimes “he was close” and other times Weaver flatly denies it.

Weaver BTW switched his affiliation to Democrat yrs ago according to the article, if Weaver was a Dhimmi, it would seem to be in his interest to say “Yes he was”.

Hmm..

Thanks NavVet.

“A third party has zero chance at success. All it will do is throw the election to Hillary.”

And the significant difference between Sen. McCain and Sen. Clinton would be....?

“If conservatives aren’t even a majority in the Republican Party, how do you expect them to get anywhere with a third party?”

Politics are local. Much as we like to “Federalize” everything in politics, a great deal of what gets done is on a local or state level. From a Federal government perspective, a viable third party would eventually end up with some members of Congress and the Senate as well as providing an alternative choice for President. Eventually, a conservative political party might end up replacing the GOP in much the same way the GOP replaced the Whigs in the 1860’s.

Fewer and fewer people identify with either major party at this point; “independents” outnumber registrations for either major party in many areas. So the internal composition of the GOP is less important in determining what happens in the general elections anyway.

What a conservative political party would ultimately do is allow conservatives a voice and a place at the table. That’s something conservatives no longer have within the GOP.

I love Ann, but stop with the Hillary nonsense.

Support the GOP candidate. The stakes are entirely too high to entrust Clinton, Reid and Pelosi with the War on Terror and two upcoming vacancies on the Supreme Court.

This is retarded. Anyone who thinks McCain will be a worse president then Hilary or Obama is seriously delusional.

Ann’s intitled to her opinions. Right now I have no idea who I’m voting for. I despise McCain & Hillary equally. What’s sickens me in addition is seeing a bunch of Republicans suck up to a senile old man just so they have a shot at a government job. Yikes.

A brillant ploy of Ann’s to stay in the news. She hasn’t scored coup since Lizzie Edwards, so a few months out of the limelight calls for creative thought.

McCain, of course, is everything Ann and Rush say he is, and probably worse in his private conversations. We are in for a disaster either way if McCain is crowned with our nomination, and should we let the party unite on something like that??? We would be giving up the Reagan Revolution, and maybe that’s what Coulter is looking at. McCain isn’t worth it.

You forget the 30% or 40% of the democrats that are disgusted with their choices, and will vote for McCain.

The most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long, long time.
