Mitt was a great leader back in 1994; a business leader. And he's a great leader in 2008: a business leader.
I don't doubt his excellence and success as a business leader. There's no question about that.
But whether he'll make a good President?...
I don’t see McCain has being a good president. He loves to be loved, and he loves to be seen as “bipartisan” and a “savior”. Not good for an executive. He has not had any real executive experience.
Huckabee at least was a governor. He is naive and unprepared for national play, but at least has proven he can run an organization.
Romney has business experience, AND executive experience. His debate performances show that he will not screw up and he WILL win the debates against the democrats.
And he will do so by espousing conservative principles, with a sound pragmatic edge that could win over moderates and independents.
I don’t see Ron Paul as an executive either.
And that’s it for our side now. Only one candidate who has the backing of the conservative movement — Romney. You think you can get Huckabee elected with all the conservative pundits against him?
You can say the conservatives oppose Romney now, but each individual conservative can change his mind easily enough by november.
But the public statements of the talk show hosts makes it very hard for them to change their positions, and to be believed if they do. They’ve already convinced their audience, and it shows. I doubt Huckabee could get 50% support here, even with just McCain as the alternative.
