I think Jim provides an excellent alternative to not voting in the fall, if by supporting Huckabee we can force a brokered convention.A brokered convention would be decided by the delegates pledged to the candidates who won them.
It's extremely unlikely that a majority would turn to a candidate who was eliminated early.
Far more likely is a deal to be made from the leading candidate and another with enough votes to put him over the top.
I have a very tough time imagining where the delegates select a Fred Thompson, for example.
The only way that could possibly happen is in a hopeless deadlock involving numerous ballots.

I am a guy.

Good point. He’s no northeastern liberal. Not a yankee bone in his body.

I wouldn’t disagree. If each person remained firm, it might work. I am by no means convinced that it would.
As I sit here now, it’s a last chance Hail Mary. What else is there?

Arkansas Freepers tried to warn people about Clinton. This forum listened to them back then.
But now, because we have a Republican running, ya'll turn a deaf ear. Again, you were warned.
Just listen.

Question: Since it is the result most fervently desired, what are the odds we actually end-up with a brokered convention?According to Intrade, the current odds on 1/31/08 of a brokered GOP convention are 5%.
However, the odds on 12/20/07 were 50%.

While other politicians (and people) have had pro-life conversions before, they were conversions of the heart and mind. Romney has not had a change of heart on pro-culture of death issues, despite what some wish us to believe. He still has never divested in fetal stem cell research companies and continued to pump up Planned Parenthood in Massachusetts after his "conversion". His pro-life "conversion" is simply a clintonesque scheme to remove an obstacle to his getting elected...and it might work considering the number of truth-deniers we seem to have right in our midst.

It's going to be a real circus around here if McCain gets the nomination and chooses Huckabee as his running mate. Load up on the popcorn!!

I'm not sure what you want from me. On November the 4th, if McCain, Romney, Giuliani, Paul or Huckabee's name is on the ballot, I will write in someone else. I will not cast a vote for any of them in November.
What I have agreed to do, is give Huckabee support on Super Tuesday in hopes three people would remain viable, and the convention could be thrown in to turmoil, so that a brokered convention might result.
If Huckabee then threw his delegates to McCain, I would be right back where I am now, writing in.
If by some miracle a better candidate emerged, I'd be pleased to have someone to vote for as a group.
I have listened to the people of Arkansas. I am also trying to support Jim as much as I can to force a better nominee than it looks like were going to have if we don't force a brokered convention.

Problem is my friend, is that the conservative movement has attached itself to the GOP, which was not conservative in the first place.Who created the Republican party and why? You could not be more wrong with your statement.

I believe a man who would say the things he said on that video is an evil bastard.

Romney has had a change of heart and is now pro-life.
President Reagan also had a change of heart and became pro-life.
Did you vote for President Reagan or was this single issue a deal breaker for him as-well?
To: Jim Robinson
I am voting for Huckabee on February 5th in the New York State primary. At first, I was just going to stay home but now I am going to vote.

YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!
Is the “Official” position of Free Republic to Vote for Huckabee?
If so, this is now my worse nightmare.
