It's funny that this was mentioned. The other day I said something to the same effect.
One theory of mine is that all the stars are alligning toward an economic collapse unseen since in this country the '30's, and neither a party wants to be party to it. (i.e see Herbert Hoover, and subsequent 13 years of FDR Rule and change)

My whole impression of this race is which party can turn off their voters the best. Unreal.
