There is a difference between “benchmarks” and “timetables”.

Benchmarks are event driven, timetables are of course time based.

Romney talked about setting timetables.

But not about withdrawing. It was as clear as as a bell. Even the liberals know that McCain was lying. He was like a little boy caught lying tonight, but was too arrogant to admit it. Pitiful.

Romney talked about setting timetables.

Wouldn't both be needed in a military campaign? Obviously the timing of events is not 100% predictable, but I would expect effective logistics to require timetables even if they're not perfect and need to be continuously adjusted.
