“Nichol said the First Amendment and “defining traditions of openness that sustain universities” required he permit the show be held at the college”

Did William and Mary become a state school? The First Amendment does not require that a private institution provide a forum such as this.

And think about that reasoning applied to other events.

Would he say that the defining traditions of openness that sustain universities require that a gun show be held on campus?

Would he say that such traditions of openness require that prayer services or a Jehovah’s Witnesses convention be held on campus?

Would he say that a seminar sponsored by Free Republic had to be allowed due to the openness that sustain universities?

Would he say that groups opposed to abortion, affirmative action, or same sex marriage must be allowed to speak on campus due to his reasoning?

WM is a public institution. I know this because my sister transferred there from UVA last year.
