McCain beats Romney in Florida GOP race

MIAMI - Sen. John McCain won a breakthrough triumph in the Florida Republican primary Tuesday night, edging past former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and seizing precious campaign momentum for next week's string of contests across 21 states.

"It shows one thing: I'm the conservative leader who can unite the party," the Arizona senator said in a brief interview with The Associated Press. "It's a very significant boost, but I think we've got a tough week ahead and a lot of states to come."

The victory was worth 57 national convention delegates for McCain, a winner-take-all's haul and the largest single prize to date in the race.

Rudy Giuliani was in third place, his best showing of the campaign but possibly not good enough to warrant continuing.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee trailed but told supporters he would forge on.

I for one was thrilled to see that liberal, slick, lying 6-foot tall stack of manure with good hair go down in flames. Too bad Joe Isuzu Romney had to get beaten by another RINO instead of a real Conservative.

True, I could just get it over with.

It’s just a pain being an optimist. I just keep hoping that people will come to their senses!

I know Rush’s ego will never allow him to admit it, but while he is entertaining, he is also pretty irrelevant.

And I suppose you think you are?? LOL, I hope Rush hits overdrive after lamebrain McCain tomorrow and everyday from now on. McCain is a piece of garbage and it needs to be repeated daily.

"How is it that the least conservative person in the race can win and then claim that he's a conservative leader?"

Joe Isuzu Romney has been doing that all along.

I would never vote for McCain

I would rather attend to the problems of too much freedom than the problems of too little freedom.

I'm voting Ron Paul in the primary.

All you folks out there who can still vote on Tuesday ... Don’t make the mistake we did here in Florida ... don’t vote for a McFeign republican.

You don’t want to be as stupid as we Floridians are do you? Remember the last election? We can’t even count.

Same here....our ONLY hope is that it becomes a brokered convention, where a Fred Thompson or a Newt Gingrich-type conservative gets put on the ballot over the remaining RINO’s....I’ve HAD it with voting for Republicans, when they won’t even promote a Conservative, but put up these phonies.

I understand but totally disagree with your analysis. If WE vote McCain in, the long term damage to the conservative movement will be far greater than 4 yrs of Hiller or OB.
We will be saying its OK for our party to move to the LEFT.
AND MANY OF THEM WILL!!! The Dems will create their own defeat after 4 years. Stand on principle!! We have held our nose long enough.

Don’t worry, I guarentee you, if we sell our souls, she will win anyways, that’s how it works. We won’t have to worry. It’s already too late, the Republican Party has already sold it’s soul by allowing open primaries and by not standing up to the Democratic Political Machine games.

luggage =baggage.

And he will be buried under his baggage.

McCain and his general insanity.

McCain beats Romney in Florida GOP race

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our military voters in Florida for helping to hand a victory to McCain. Oh yeah, props to the illegal-supporting Cubans, too.
