I have dreamed of the Moderate Party for years, maybe we should start it for them

“I can foresee a situation where for the first time in my life, I would not endorse the Republican candidate.”

I heard it myself and he did not say he definitely would not... just that he could see a situation where he would not.

The party can’t be “moderate”, and the party can’t be “conservative”. The party has to be the party, and we have to have things that appeal to moderates and to conservatives.

We do well as conservatives if we get more than 50% of what we want, because the moderates then get less than 50%. We ask for 100%, the moderates go to the democrats who will give them 20%.

Romney may have been the good thing for all candidate, but he had to be solidly conservative and openly so to try to get the conservative vote. That drove away moderates, and didn’t get conservatives.

I suppose if we end up with 21% inflation, we could get a Reagan again.

We couldn’t get REPUBLICANS to vote for Thompson, and Thompson wasn’t really a purebred conservative, but he was a little too boring. Romney is never boring, but if your own side plays along with the “gotcha game” on trivialities and insignificant points, you can’t survive.

Thompson had those, but we defended him, and he survived.

Clinton is seeing what happens if your own people turn against you.

This is my first time posting a comment, though I’ve been a fan of freerepublic for years! I have also been a die-hard Republican all my life, but I am now so disgusted with this party. How can any clear thinking person vote for McCain? This is Dole/Clinton all over again. Why do Republicans nominate old, uninspiring men. And why McCain??? He’s a liberal and of the self-serving Washington political scene. I am leaving this party. Anyone want to suggest a new party I can belong to? I never thought I’d come to this, but if McCain gets the nomination, I’m not voting. Let the chips fall where they may.

Why don’t you go enlist in the army so you can fight for illegal immigrants right to come to this country.

Riight...other bad “tempers”: Andrew Jackson, George Patton, Vince Lombardi, Woody Hayes, Bobby Knight, Bill Belichick—not a winner among them! / sarc

Guess there is a silver lining as of the moment. Next Quarters FReepathon should go fairly quick since donations to the RNC (and RINO’s) are gonna be scarce.

"Agree. McCain, if he pulls it out, will need a strong conservative as his VP.

I thought everyone knows that a president picks a VP that would be EVEN WORSE than him , so that he won't get assasinated

Romney will get the nomination I just know it!

This is a war and the good guy will win in the end!

Now Romney can unleash towards McCain because of his last minute of Robo call of disinformation.

Looking for the gloves to come off and Mc “CAIN” will be sent back to the land of NOD!

"Agree. McCain, if he pulls it out, will need a strong conservative as his VP."

That will not be a deal maker for me.

We had a strong conservative VP for seven years under a RINO President and we STILL got creeping socialism, welfarism, political correctness towards Islamofascism, sellouts on North Korea and Middle East, and a veritable INVASION across the Southern Border.

That does not seal the deal for me--although I could see that reasoning, logic and rationaliztion coming from the GOP-firsters.

We are starting talking Independent Conservative in these quarters, NOT Democrat (D) or Democrat (R) in November.

Some man will step forward, I am sure of it.

I sure miss president Bush.

Indeed, what did the current guy in the Oval Office do with him? It seems he got switched out around 2006.

Except for the little fact McCain would get KILLED in the general election, especially if Obama gets the nod.

No matter who will be the next President, all the Bush bashers and haters on our side will be crying their eyes out in 2 years and saying "Where are you President Bush, you were really a great President and we miss you a lot".

God bless President Bush.
