Rudy Giuliani appears to be pondering an end to his long pursuit of the Republican presidential nomination.
In a meeting in the back of his chartered plane en route to St. Petersburg, Fla., a short while ago, the onetime, longtime GOP front-runner told a small group of reporters, including The Times' Louise Roug: "The winner of Florida will win the nomination."

Our guess is that overall Mayor Giuliani would do a better job as POTUS than senator McCain, just based on their track records.

He had prostate cancer. No, he saw the polls and realized that he was going to get slaughtered.
Being mayor of NYC is arguably far more stressful and taxing than running for senate, if the cancer was that bad he would have relinquished his mayoral duties. It was an excuse.
In retrospect, it is good he didnt become a senator, since senators rarely ever win the WH.
And mayors NEVER do.

I am not a Rudy fan at all, but he may be better than McCain.
McCain is probably behind this. It was revealed he was behind the Fred rumor.
He’ playing pretty dirty right now. Scarey.

Rudy will endorse McVain, so it really does us no good for him to drop out.

He is absolutely not hinting that he’s dropping out. He has said over and over, yesterday and today, that he will win Florida. He’s telling us that he will be the nominee.

The media oligarchy should be held accountable for lying and sabotaging campaigns on the eve of elections.
They screwed Thomspon, they blacklisted Hunter, and now they are sabotaging Rudy.

Guiliani dropping out is “breaking news”. Somebody thinks that Guiliani might drop out is not.

Liz, you do not know any of that.
He is going to get a lot of votes, and the NY transplants that I know are pretty hot on him.
Mitt was traditional stronger in SW Florida than Rudy, and McCain also is pretty darn strong.
It will be an interesting finish here.

Rudy has been the invisible candidate, maybe never dropped in. Can he drop out without first dropping in?

So it’s the guy who wins Florida, not the guy who wins Iowa, New Hampshire, or Michigan, that gets the GOP nod? That’s what Rudy was saying?

I wouldnt assume that Rudy will endorse anyone when he leaves the race. But he has said previously that if he werent running hed probably be supporting McCain. The tie between McCain and Rudy is so strong, that many thought Rudy wouldn't campaign for president if McCain ran. McCain is the only candidate Rudy would endorse, if he did so before Super Tuesday.

McCain needed a bigger win in SC than 3 pts. Romney is one big win away from a KO.
