Got a hop to a carrier and transferred to a Marine slick headed for DaNang. When I arrived, checked in with 3MAF for a ride to our compound just a few miles away.

Stamped across my orders was 'Travel by fixed wing air craft only', which caused a conundrum. I wasn't supposed to have landed there on a slick....so the Gunny told me there was no air transport from the helo pad and pointed to the phone to call VQ-1 to pick me up at the gate.
